NSCDC DECLARE WAR ON ENERGY VANDALS IN OSUN; AS IBEDC PAYS VISIT TO COMMANDANT AGBOOLA

The Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Osun State Command, Agboola Sunday has declared that it will no longer be business as usual for vandals of electricity infrastructure and their cohorts in Osun state.

He made this assertion when officials of the largest distribution zone in Nigeria, Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company PLC (IBEDC) paid him a visit at his Oke D.O office in Osogbo. The meeting with the officials of Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company Plc (IBEDC), Osun Region was convened with the aim of putting an end to energy theft and vandalism of national infrastructure in the power sector, National Association of Online Security News Publishers, NAOSNP gathered.

The Commandant noted that energy theft and vandalism have resulted into losses and liquidity challenges in the power sector but that era is set to end in Osun State. He emphasized the Command’s readiness to combat the cankerworm of energy theft and vandalism in the State.

 

The press statement e-signed and released to NAOSNP by the Corps’ PRO in Osun, ASCII Atanda Olabisi disclosed the stern warning of Commandant Agboola to the vandals. ‘Hard times await those who willfully destroy the country’s national assets and infrastructure. The Corps shall go all out to fish vandals out of their hideouts in the state to face the consequences of their action’. The Commandant further reiterated the importance of taking concerted efforts to achieve positive impact in the fight against vandals.

In his response, the Osun Regional Head, of Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company, Plc (IBEDC) Engr. Adeniyi Adeleke, solicited the support of the Corps in the fight against vandalism and energy theft in Osun Region. Noting that IBEDC has the largest geographical coverage among electricity distributors in the country, Adeleke stated that it requires the help of the Corps to protect its electrical installations. According to him, NAOSNP can report, vandalism, energy theft and related vices are the major setbacks militating against quality services delivery to customers.

Commandant Agboola therefor admonished the indigenes of the state to remain vigilant and report cases of vandalism to the Command or any of the offices of the Corps nearest to them for prompt response.
