NIMC will no longer offer data modification services at its NIN enrolment centres. Users must now use the self-service modification portal.

The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has announced it will no longer conduct data modification activities at any of its National Identification Number (NIN) enrolment centres across Nigeria.

The Commission has urged all NIN holders seeking to modify their data to utilise the NIMC self-service modification portal instead.

Previously, despite long queues and waiting times, individuals could visit the centres for data updates. However, in a recent post on the Commission’s X handle, NIMC explained that this new policy is aimed at improving the efficiency of the National Identity Management System.

“Data modifications will no longer take place at our enrolment centres,” the statement reads. “Instead, we offer a self-service modification portal, allowing users to update their information conveniently and securely online.”

NIMC also reported that 110 million Nigerians have registered for the NIN, reflecting a 2.4% increase from the 107.34 million recorded in May. Abisoye Coker-Odusote, NIMC’s director-general, made this known during the sixth National Day of Identity in Abuja.

The event, themed ‘Digital Public Infrastructure: Enabling Access to Services,’ highlighted the importance of digital infrastructure in providing better access to essential services.
