NARD Begins 7-Day Nationwide Strike Over Kidnapped Doctor

The National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) has commenced a 7-day warning strike across all centers nationwide, starting at 12 am on Monday, August 26, 2024.
The strike is in response to the ongoing captivity of Dr. Ganiyat Popoola, a registrar at the National Eye Centre, Kaduna, who has been held hostage for over eight months.
NARD President, Dr. Dele Abdullahi, announced the decision following an emergency virtual National Executive Council meeting held on Sunday, August 25, 2024.
Abdullahi emphasized that the strike would be total, with no emergency care provided during this period.
Dr. Popoola was abducted nearly eight months ago alongside her husband and nephew. While her husband was released in March, she and her nephew remain in captivity.
