NAJUC Election: Judiciary Correspondents swears in new executives • Wahab Akinlade, others sworn in as NAJUC Exco

A new executive council of the National Association of Judicial Correspondent, NAJUC, was on Friday, sworn into office to replace the Mr Henry Ojelu-led executive.
The new EXCO is led by Mr Wahab Akinlade (Chairman), Moji Eniola(Vice Chairman), Yetunde Ojo(Secretary), Stephen Aya(Treasurer) and Ayo Olalere(Financial Secretary). They were unanimously elected by all the members present during the election and were sworn in by Barrister Wahab Abdullah.
In his remarks, the new chairman, Mr Wahab Akinlade emphasized the need to work together.
He said there are some issues on the ground that needs to be corrected.
“There will be no personal briefs. We shall work together and enjoy together.
The Chairman enjoined all members to be committed by coming to courts regularly and filling in stories.
He also promised to be accountable and transparent at all time.
“I encourage everybody to show some commitment by going to court regularly.
“It is when we show active reporting that people will take us seriously.
“I say no to selective invitation, we will work together in unity.
“I will be transparent and accountable at all time. No need to talk of personal briefs. Let’s work together as one big family,” he said.
Akinlade said he was proposing stipends for members who are active in coming to court to feed others with reports.
“We will bring to the floor policy that will unite all of us,” he said.
In her speech, the Vice Chairman, Miss Moji Eniola urged all members to create room for constructive criticism.
Eniola noted that members must be guided by the constitution
“We need to work on feedback and take constructive tru criticism.
“There was backbiting in the past EXCO because there was no transparency.
“Basically, it’s a partnership, we are here to serve not to lord it over anybody.
Speak up your mind and let us discuss it together and there should be room for constructive criticism.
“We will be accountable in all areas and we will work with the constitution.
“In every meeting, finance will be discussed, no matter how small,” she said
The Vice Chairman advised all members to tighten their belt so that the association could be financially buoyant,” she said.
Similarly , Mr Ayo Olalere, financial secretary, said he would work in line with the way things are done every in other beats.
“The strong will carry the weak, every member will benefit from this exco and I look forward to a good working relationship with all,” he said.
Also speaking, Mr Wahab Abdullah, thanked the electoral committee for being able to hold the election.
He urged the EXCOs to carry everyone along in their plans and activities.
In his advice, Mr. Mustapha Ogunsaki urged the new EXCOs to bring back professionalism and integrity to the beat.
