LNSA JOINS UNODC, NAPTIP TO ADDRESS HUMAN TRAFFICKING

In celebration of this year’s World Day against Human Trafficking, Prince (Dr.) Ifalade .A.Oyekan, the General Manager of the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Agency (LNSA) has drawn attention to the various ways the use of technology is both used to prevent and facilitate the crime of human trafficking.

National Association of Online Security News Publishers, NAOSNP can report that his agency LNSA joined the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crimes (UNODC), The National Agency For the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) and other stakeholders in the Human Trafficking prevention and security architecture to celebrate this day. The theme of the year’s celebration is Use and Abuse of Technology.

Oyekan noted that traffickers now hide under the ploy of Job advertisements online, Scholarship advertisements, Online dating sites, Scam citizenship, and easy immigration schemes to control, and exploit their victims. The realities of the Covid-19 pandemic has also been leveraged upon by traffickers to recruit, control and exploit unsuspecting individuals, NAOSNP gathered.

The head of Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Agency (LNSA) which is safeguarding our communities thus uses the celebration to sensitize the populace. It is noteworthy that the law enforcement agency operates under the Security pillar of the Governor Babajide Sanwoolu’s THEMES Agenda.
