List Of States That Have Announced Public Holiday For Teachers’ Day

Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara State has declared Monday, October 7, 2024, a public holiday for teachers in the state in celebration of World Teachers’ Day.
The announcement was made through a statement by the state’s Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Hajia Sa’adatu Moddibo Kawu, to acknowledge the vital role teachers play in the education sector.
Trek Africa Newspaper reports that in addition to Kwara, other states in Nigeria have also declared Monday a public holiday for teachers:
- Ogun State: Governor Dapo Abiodun declared Monday, October 7, 2024, a work-free day for teachers. Schools in the state are expected to resume academic activities on Tuesday, October 8, 2024.
- Osun State: Governor Ademola Adeleke has declared Monday a public holiday for teachers in both public and private schools in the state. The announcement was made in a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Mr. Kolapo Alimi, recognizing teachers’ invaluable contributions to the growth of the education sector.
These decisions reflect a nationwide appreciation of teachers on World Teachers’ Day, as states come together to honor the hard work and dedication of educators in shaping the future of the nation.
