LG POLLS: DELTA CP, ALI HAILS PEACEFUL CONDUCT OF ELECTION

Barring any unforeseen last minute occurrences, the Delta State Police Command said the local government election taking place in the State today has been largely peaceful in the various areas of the State.
In a press statement, the Command’s spokesman, Bright Edafe; a Deputy Superintendent of Police said in the various parts of the State monitored so far by the Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Ali and his team have generally been peaceful even as the monitoring continued.
According to the statement, “the Commissioner of Police Ari Muhammed today, with sister agencies which include the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps, Nigerian Immigration Service, Federal Road Safety Commission and National Drug Law Enforcement Agency went on supervision of security operatives deployed on the local government election duties, and also monitor the conduct of the elections.”
“Some of the polling units visited included Obo-Ator Primary School, Uzoigwe Primary School, Azagba Primary School, Ahabam Primary School all in Oshimili South Local Government.”
He stated that during the routine visit to polling units, some violators of the restriction of movement order imposed by the state government were also arrested, with their tricycles and vehicles impounded.
“The Commissioner of police also extended his visit to Oshimili North Local Government, where he visited Oko-Atakpo polling unit, Omu Boys Primary School and post office Ogbe-Owele polling units. He also went to Aniocha South Local Government area where he visited some of the major polling units which included, Ogwa Umudunkwu, Anishi polling units. The police boss also extended his visit to Okpanam Town, and visited major polling units there.
Where ever he went for election monitoring, the Commissioner was said to have encouraged voters to maintain calm, and continue to comport themselves as they have been doing.
