Lagos rescue team recovers male passenger’s body from lagoon

After two days of search and recovery operations, rescue officials have recovered the body of a male passenger that drowned in the lagoon during an auto crash on the third mainland bridge in Lagos State.

The recovered body was one of the two persons, male and female, declared drowned by emergency officials after they fell from the 20-seater bus into the lagoon from the bridge during an accident that occurred during Eid celebration in the state.

As gathered, while the body of the male was recovered on Friday at about 3pm, rescue team have intensified their search for the female passenger’s body inside the lagoon.

The Southwest Coordinator for the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Ibrahim Farinloye, disclosed this through a statement made available to newsmen on efforts made by the rescue team to recover the bodies.

Farinloye added that the body was recovered by the Marine Police officials who had been patrolling the waterways immediately after the accident was reported.
