The Lagos State Government has announced the reopening of the Odo Iya Alaro Bridge in the Maryland area of the state after it was temporarily closed less than two months ago.
The Commissioner for Transport, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, made the announcement in a statement issued on Monday.
Osiyemi said the rehabilitation was executed by the state Ministry of Works, and it commenced on Monday, July 22, 2024.
According to him, the rehabilitation would ease movement and traffic flow between the Mainland and Island.
“We are thrilled to announce that the Odo Iya Alaro Bridge has been successfully reopened by Deputy Governor Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, ahead of schedule. What was initially a 90-day project has been remarkably completed in under two months, showcasing the exceptional dedication of all involved.
“We extend our deepest gratitude to Lagosians for your patience and cooperation during this period. Your support and adaptability in navigating alternative routes were crucial to the project’s success.
“The reopening of the Odo Iya Alaro Bridge marks a significant milestone in enhancing our city’s infrastructure, promising improved traffic flow and connectivity between the Mainland and Island. We also commend the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) for their outstanding role in managing traffic during the project.
“Thank you once again for your unwavering support and commitment to the development of our city,” Osiyemi said.
