The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Adegoke Fayoade, has announced a ban on the ongoing #EndBadGovernanceinNigeria protest, declaring it unlawful following President Bola Tinubu’s recent address to the aggrieved protesters.

In a statement to journalists on Sunday, Fayoade explained that the protest has been deemed illegal and unlawful since the President has spoken to address the concerns of the demonstrators. He emphasized that any further gatherings related to the protest would be considered violations of the law.

“The protest has been called off because of the President’s speech. They believe that the President has spoken, and they are looking forward to him meeting their demands,” Fayoade said. “In view of that, there should be no more gathering here or anywhere; any such assembly is considered illegal and unlawful. Since it has been called off, we will apply the full weight of the law.”

The police commissioner’s statement reflects the authorities’ stance on managing the protest in Lagos, signaling a crackdown on any further demonstrations.

Details on the enforcement of this ban and any potential actions by the police remain forthcoming.
