Lagos Govt. Commend Nigerian Army’s Resilience at WASA Celebration

The Lagos State Government has praised the Nigerian Army’s dedication to service and security at the combined West African Social Activities (WASA) celebration of the 81 Division Nigerian Army Engineers and the 9 Brigade, Trek Africa Newspaper can report. The event, which took place on January 18, 2025, featured cultural performances from different tribes in Nigeria and a tug of war competition amidst many other activities.
Secretary to the Lagos State Government, Abimbola Salu-Hundeyin, represented Governor Babajide Olushola Sanwo-Olu at the event. Hundeyin acknowledged the critical role of the Nigerian Army in fostering peace and stability in Lagos State.
The Governor’s speech, read by Hundeyin, commended the Nigerian Army’s unwavering commitment to security and development, particularly in Lagos State. He praised the Army’s efforts in combating insecurity, maintaining law and order, and supporting civil authorities in times of need.
According to Governor Sanwo-Olu, “WASA is a time-honored tradition organized by the Nigerian Army to celebrate our cultural heritage and end the year’s activities. It aims to foster unity among the rank and file, bring civilian friends of the military closer and boost the morale of the officers.”
The event was attended by top military officials, including Major General FU. Mujinyawa, General Officer Commanding 81 Division, Brigadier General Olawale Matthew Oyekola, General Officer Commanding 9 Brigade, and Corps Commander Engineers, Major General P.E. Eromosele.
In conclusion, Governor Sanwo-olu encouraged the military personnel to continue serving with dignity, honor, and pride, knowing that their contributions are deeply appreciated and valued by every Nigerian. “God bless the Nigerian Army, God bless Lagos State, God bless Nigeria,” he said.
