…Intensifies house-to-house campaign in wards.
As the October 31 Lagos East By-Election draws nearer, the Executive Chairman of Somolu Local Government, Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu is determined in taking the campaign of APC’s candidate, Mr. Tokunbo Abiru to every groups in his Local Government Area.
In canvassing for huge votes in communities in Somolu, the council helmsman with his Vice, Hon. Bowale Sosimi was with the APC Chairman in Somolu, Pastor Femi Adebiyi Taiwo earlier today at the council’s Banquet Hall to meet with the leadership of Community Development Committee (CDC) and Community Development Associations (CDAs) in Somolu as lead by Chief Dapo Oduguwa, High Chief (Mrs) Dr. Modupe Oluwole, Alhaji Tajudeen Tella, Comrade Moses Adewunmi among others. They spoke on the personality of the party’s candidate, Mr. Tokunbo Abiru and his commitment to the grassroots.
The trio of Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu, Hon. Bowale Sosimi and Pastor Femi Taiwo also met with the representative of the association of artisans in Somolu at the Council’s Conference Hall to pass the message of the party on the by-election candidature of Tokunbo Abiru to vulcanizers, hairdressers, tailors, caterers, carpenters, technicians, auto mechanics among others. In their response, Mrs. Funmi Davies, on behalf of the artisans, said the achievement of Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu in developing Somolu has been great points scored by APC in Lagos State and they are sure Mr. Tokunbo Abiru will even do better for the artisans as be has promised a lot of empowerment programmes for them.
In company of the Lagos State House of Assembly member representing Somolu Constituency 1, Hon. Rotimi Olowo and Hon. Williams Lawanson (Former Sole Administrator of Somolu LG) with Pastor Femi Taiwo, the council of Imams and Alfas in Somolu received the well respected politicians as they observed Jum’ah Service. Hon. Rotimi Olowo, while addressing the large congregation of Muslims, said the by-election is for all eligible voters and not APC members alone. He said the candidate is an embodiment of knowledge and wealth of experience.
Prior to the aforesaid, the quintet’s cordial efforts induced to ascertain the fortified will of the people to diligently carry out the task at hand serves as a pleasing tactical alternative in boosting both the preceding and other scheduled house to house campaign in the eight political wards and 32 political zones in in Somolu community from Fadeyi, Onipanu, Ijebutedo, Orile, Bashua, Okesuna, Bajulaye to Akoka-Igbari. Councilors, supervisors, ward Chairmen and political appointees were also involved in the campaign, including the Chairperson,
Many APC’s Tokunbo Abiru branded souvenirs were freely distributed to the CDC, CDA, artisans, Muslims Community members and passerby alike.
According to Pastor Femi Adebiyi Taiwo, the council helmsman has supported the party with lots of APC’s Tokunbo Abiru branded souvenirs including exercise books, pen, hand sanitizers, face mask, shirts, caps and lots more.
Recall that the daily house-to-house Campaign has commenced since Wednesday, October 14 and the Lagos East Senatorial By-election slated for October 31 was necessitated by the demise of the Senator representing the Senatorial District, Senator Adebayo Osinowo who died on June 15, 2020.
