Lagos 2019: Our son deserves second term in office, Epe residents cries out

Some residents of Epe division, which comprises of, Epe central, Eredo and Ikosi-Ejirin, had on Tuesday, staged rallies on the major streets in the community to canvass and drum support for Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode re-election.

Some of the residents who spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Epe, Lagos state, said that the rallies was against the backdrop of speculations that Ambode might not like be the favoured candidate under All Progressive Party (APC) platform.

NAN reports that APC National leader, Bola Tinubu, is said to be currently working for Mr Jide Sanwo-Olu, the former commissioner in the state, who has already declared his intention to contest the governorship against the incumbent, Gov. Ambode in the same APC party platform.

Epe, Eredo and Ikosi-Ejirin youth chanted solidarity songs as they moved from one street to another in the community, displaying several placards with various inscriptions.

The placard read: “It is our turn, let do it gain. Others has done it two term, let us do it too. Asiwaju, forgive your son, Ambode, he is a loyal servant. Our governor is not tired.

Others read: “All we are saying, give us second term. Ambode has unfinished project, let him complete. Let the good work continue. Ambode has done tremendously well in Lagos city and can do it again.

One of the youth leader, Mr Ayogbode Seriki, said that the rally was aimed at supporting and celebrating good governance in Epe and Lagos state at large.

Seriki said that the rally was also to plead to the APC National leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu to forgive Ambode, inspite of any wrong he has done.

He added that “Only God that is perfect, therefore, he should be forgiven for any wrong he might have done, either to the party leaders or to the party stakeholders.

He said that the governor has done marvelously well in the area of infrastructure development but believed he will gear-up in other areas of inadequacy.

“A good man deserves better position. A good term also deserve another. Let the good work continue.

“We Epe indigenes and the environ stand for Ambode and his second mandate we plead for it, “he said.

Also speaking, Mr Lateef Okesanya, urged the party leaders to accept and understand Ambode plight and gibe him the opportunity to serve for second term in office.

According to him, It has always be the usual practice for Governors in Lagos state to go for second term despite any odds or challenges. So, why will the case of Ambode be difference?

He pleaded to any aggrieved party members to shun sentiment and face the reality for the prosperity of the state.

“Former Gov. Bola Tinubu and Raji Fashola serve two term in office, Ambode should also serve his second term.

“Epe should not be shortchanged of his right in office for second term. We concern indigenes, sons and daughters of Epe division are begging on behalf of our dear governor Ambode to be giving second chance in office, he said.

Mrs Funke Atoyegbe, one of the women leader in Epe, urged all the APC party stakeholders to rally support for Ambode second term in office.

She said that although, Ambode is not a perfect man and cannot be a perfect man but the development done in Lagos state cannot to overemphasized.

“All we are saying is that, the man should complete his good work, We don’t want abandoned projects in Epe and in Lagos state at large.

“Ambode has the love of masses at heart. He is a unique man with professionalism attribute in him. He has done it, he is doing it and it can still do it again, ” she said.

Also speaking, Mr Tunde Aliu, appealed to all party leaders to resolve all issues around their concern, adding that the love of masses should prevail.

He said that Ambode sterling performance in the last three years left no one in doubt of his capability to further change the face of the state, If given second chance.

He urged APC party to support continuity of Ambode and as their preferred candidate.

“Epe community as been langing behind in terms of development among other divisional areas of the state.

“We have been yarning for infrastructure development since the past 50years, therefore, We deserve the ongoing development, as we are also part of Lagos state that needed development.

“It is the dividend of democracy we are benefitting from it and not only in Epe division but the entire city also witness and benefitted from the development, ” he said.
