LADI JATTO HARPS ON PROPER DISPOSAL OF PLASTIC WASTE

The people of Kogi State have been urged to be mindful of their approach to waste disposal to avoid environmental degradation that could lead to natural disasters.
Kogi state coordinator for Nigeria Erosion and Watershed Management Project, Ladi Jatto stated this while addressing newsmen in commemoration of the ‘World Environment Day’
Ladi said this year’s Environment Day with the theme ” Beating the Plastic Pollution” is to create awareness towards proper waste management particularly on plastic products which cannot be easily broken down.
She appealed to the people of the state to minimize indiscriminate dumping of plastics in water source noting that it contains chemical components that can constitute health hazards.
She called for sustainable approach to waste disposal pointing out that recycling, reduction and remodeling will go a long way to reduce the amount of waste produced in the society.
