KOGI STATE GOVERNMENT TAKES OVER PAYMENT L.G TEACHERS’ SALARY

Governor Yahaya Bello has finally transferred the payment of salaries from Local Government Areas to the Kogi State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) and Bureau for Local Government Pension (BLGP).
Making the formal transfer on behalf of the Governor, the Special Adviser on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Engr. (Dr.) Abubakar S. Ohere called on the SUBEB Chairman, Abdullahi Suleiman and the Chairman Bureau for Local Government Pension, Hon. Oduniya Godson to ensure the implementation of the salary payment from March salaries.
Engr. Abubakar S. Ohere, said the Local Government Areas has provided a very transparent data on the transfer of the salary payment adding that they should use the template to kick start the payment of salaries to their staff members respectively.
The Special Adviser said with the salary transfer, teachers and pensioners will now receive their payment as at when due and that the measure has also close any bureaucracy on the payment of their salaries.
Engr. Ohere said the Committees set up to work out modalities for the salary transfer had representatives of SUBEB, NUT, ALGON, BLGP, NUP maintaining that the data for the transfer of the salaries is very authentic and is based on the reports emanating from the screening exercise.
The Special Adviser reminded the stakeholders who are taking over the salary payments of Governor Bello’s special attention to the payment of salaries to teachers and pensioners. He urged them to carryout the governor’s directive with the prompt attention it deserves.
Earlier the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Engr. Usman Dan Victor who served as the Chairman of the two Committees thanked the Governor for offering them the opportunity to serve in the transfer of salaries Committee. He said the committees were able to submit their reports within the two weeks mandate given to them.
The Chairman of SUBEB, Abdullahi Suleiman said they will work with the data on salary payment handed over to them. He maintained that they will not add nor subtract from the payment data handed over to them.
On his part the Chairman of Bureau for Local Government Pension, Hon. Oduniya Emmanuel Godson described the handover of salary payment to his Bureau as a new dawn. He assured the state government that they will implement the payment based on the data handed over to them.
The representative of ALGON who doubles as the Administrator of Kogi Local Government, Bar. Tanko Muhammed commended Governor Yahaya Bello and Engr. Abubakar Ohere for facilitating the transfer of salaries to SUBEB and BLGP.
He stated that the new direction policy of the Governor would enhance productivity in the teaching profession and better welfare package for the pensioners. He urged the implementors to adhere strictly on the data presented to them
