INEC REASSURED ALL 48 POLITICAL PARTIES FOR OSUN GOVERNORSHIP ELECTION OF LEVEL PLAYING GROUND

The Osun state Inec resident electoral commissioner, Mr. Olusegun Agbaje has reassured all stakeholders in the Osun state Governorship Election that Inec under the leadership of Prof. Mahmood Yakubu will never do anything that will alter the gains it has so far achieved in terms of credibility.

Agbaje stated that, “I and all other staff of the commission that will participate in the conduct of tge election have resolved to do everything possible to ensure that the Osun state Governorship election of 22nd September, 2018 is conducted on a level playing field for all the 48 political parties that have nominated candidates for the election.”

Let me reiterate the consequences of not getting this election right are too grave and we should not even think along that line.

He call on all stakeholders to join hands with Inec by continuously playing their respective roles positively in accordance with the relevant laws as Inec would by the Grace of God do all that is required to create a very conducive atmosphere for the Osun state electorate to vote for the candidates of their choice on 22nd September, 2018.

 

He said, “We shall do everything possible within the ambit of the law to make the election free, fair, credible and generally acceptable to Osun State people in particular as well as Nigerians and the International Community in general.

The Electoral State Commissioner highlighted that, “I can confidently say that the commission is fully ready and some of the things we have done include; Intensive Voter’s education and public enlightenment campaign, distribution of Non sensitive materials, recruitment of about 16,000 Ad hoc staff, Training of all Ad hoc staff and permanent staff of the commission, Administration of Oath of Neutrality, Resuscitation of Registration Area centres (RACs), putting in place adequate security, production of a credible register of voters, Issuance of 1,246,915 Permanent Voters cards, Enhancement of Smart Card Readers and Engagement with key stakeholders such as political parties’ leadership and candidates, heads of security agencies, the media, local and international observer groups, traditional rulers, religious leaders, PWDs, women groups, youth groups, heads of federal establishments in Osun State among others.
