IMO POLICE BAN THE USE OF FIREWORKS, OTHER EXPLOSIVES

The Imo State Police Command wishes to inform the general public of the ban on all form of explosives anywhere in Imo State. To this end, all sales, possession and discharge of explosives is hereby banned.
The unwholesome practice where people indulge in the use of fireworks and other explosives especially during festive period does not only constitute threat of fire outbreak, but could cause distraction and panic, which may constitute threats to the security of the state. Similarly, Hoodlums may also leverage on such practice to perpetrate their criminal acts.
Imolites are therefore advised to explore other peaceful and lawful means of celebrating or expressing their joy and happiness as heralded by the season.
Parents and guardians are by this press release advised to educate their children/wards on the consequences of such acts, as any person(s) found selling, possessing or discharging fireworks of any kind in the state will be arrested and made to face the full wrath of the law.
