IGP EGBETOKUN VISITS AKARIGBO, AWUJALE, OLU OF ILARO, OTHER TRADITIONAL RULERS • Assures of Partnership, Support, Additional Logistics

The Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, in continuation of his working visit to Ogun State, on Wednesday 17th April, 2024, met with traditional rulers including the Akarigbo of Remo Land, His Royal Majesty, Oba Adewale Ajayi, the Awujale of Ijebuland, His Royal Majesty, Oba Sikiru Adetona, and other traditional rulers in the state, National Association of Online Security News Publishers, NAOSNP can report.

 

During the visit, the IGP engaged in constructive discussions with the traditional rulers, emphasizing the importance of collaboration between the police and traditional institutions in ensuring peace and security in communities across Ogun State. The traditional rulers expressed their commitment to supporting law enforcement efforts and fostering partnerships aimed at enhancing safety and security.

In a significant gesture of partnership, the Akarigbo of Remo Land, Oba Adewale Ajayi, pledged to construct student hostels for the Police Secondary School in Batoro, Sagamu. Additionally, he called for increased police presence in Sagamu to further enhance security in the area. The IGP welcomed these initiatives and assured the traditional ruler of the Nigeria Police Force’s support in realizing these projects.

 

Similarly, the Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona, highlighted the need for support and logistics in Ijebu land and other communities in Ogun State to strengthen security infrastructure and improve law enforcement capabilities. The IGP assured that the Force will provide the necessary support and resources to address security challenges in the area.

Furthermore, the IGP visited his hometown Ilaro, and paid courtesy visits to the traditional rulers most especially the Olu of Ilaro and Paramount ruler of Yewaland, Oba Dr. Kehinde Olugbenle, and the obas in Erinja and Ilobi communities in Yewa South, where he urged continuous support for the Police from the traditional institutions in the communities. He also pronounced the establishment of a Police Mobile Force base in the Ogun West Senatorial District to subdue the influx of criminals and bandits into Ogun state and Nigeria by extension via the borders in those areas.

 

The Inspector General of Police expressed gratitude to the traditional rulers for their support and assured them of the NPF’s continuous efforts to safeguarding lives and property of all and sundry in Ogun State and beyond.
