Fast rising female actor and entrepreneur, Merit Chioma Johnson is gradually gathering momentum in the multi-million dollar Nollywood industry. The UNIBEN graduate who has featured in short films and a couple of movies also does make-up when she is not on locations.
She had a brief Interview with Yomi Oyelami, Editor, Trek Africa Newspaper recently.
Trek Africa: Can we meet you?
Merit Johnson: My name is Merit Chioma Johnson. I am an actress and also a makeup artist. I am from a family of two and a native of Abia state. I was a student of the University of Benin where I studied Fine and Applied Arts.
Trek Africa: How did you get into acting?
Merit Johnson: I got into acting in 2017. I was inspired by my mom who really wanted the best out of me. She encouraged me to keep fighting no matter the challenge. It wasn’t an easy one back then.

Trek Africa: Ant challenges in the profession?
Merit Johnson: As a beginner you wake up early to get to work for auditions. Sometimes you are asked to cry, act like a mad woman; yet you may not be picked. Nothing good comes easy but in all I give God the glory.
Trek Africa: What would you want to be known for in the Nollywood industry?
Merit Johnson: I want to be known for my values. The world should know that there is more to Merit than they see today. I want to be a star and a role model to the young.
Trek Africa: What do you think about baby mama?
Merit Johnson: Most ladies would want to be David’s Chioma but I don’t want to.
Trek Africa: Can you act nude if the prize is large enough?
Merit Johnson: I can’t go nude even if I am paid millions.
