…WIDOWS SHOWER APPRECIATION FOR KIND GESTURE.
The Elderly Citizens Assistance Scheme (ECAS) pioneered by Sen. Oluremi Tinubu at the Lagos Central Senatorial District is one that will continue to grow in impact as politicians within the constituency are taking it to the grassroots to reach more and more elderly citizens in the society.
One of such personalities replicating this genuine effort is Dr. Mrs. Funmilayo Akande-Muhammed who is decidedly in favour of a better welfare for the aged and the widows within the Apapa-Iganmu LCDA which she oversees as Executive Chairman. ‘I am always motivated by her passion for the elderly citizens of the country and she has exemplified in her various schemes and sustainable projects’, the council boss said of Sen. Oluremi Tinubu OON.

Dr. Akande-Muhammed added: ‘What we are giving them is a succor which I believe will take care of some basic needs and we will continue to do more. In our own capacity we will provide according to the resources available. Let us rekindle their hope, let us clean their tears, let us make them happy’.
In the same vein, Mrs. Temitope Ogundare, HOD, WAPA, Apapa-Iganmu LCDA shared: ‘We are here today because we want to put smiles on the face of our aged and widows. In all, 130 persons were helped. We pick beneficiaries from different wards, drawing from organizations like CDA, CDC, NGO, and market women. We will continue to do this.’
The councilor representing Ward F on the floor of the House at Apapa-Iganmu LCDA, Hon. Emmanuel Chukwuemeka added: ‘this is not the first, second or third that the Chairman will be doing. It shows that she has feelings for the elderly population. Many that have benefitted are appreciative. This is a welfare package for the widows to take of themselves. Some can even start a small business at home so that they can have things doing.’
Many of the beneficiaries are full of appreciation and they shared with Trek Africa Newspaper. Mrs. Raliat Motolani, a widow said: ‘This is my first time of getting this gesture. I appreciate the Executive Chairman for what she has done. May God continue to help her.’
Another beneficiary, Mrs. Ayo Ibrahim stated: ‘She is been doing this for us since her days as Executive Secretary. Now that she is Chairman, she is doing it. She is so nice to us. Almighty God will continue to empower her and her family.’
