History was made in Ikeja, and it was made through purposeful leadership. In a landmark ceremony led by Ambassador Idara Michael, Executive Vice President of JCI Nigeria, the Ikeja Local Government officially declared July 10th as Human Duties Day—the first feat of its kind in the history of JCI Nigeria.
The Executive Chairman, Comrade Akeem Dauda, signed a four-year Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with JCI, formally cementing a partnership that will ignite civic responsibility and leadership development at the grassroots. In a further demonstration of commitment, the Chairman was decorated as a Human Duties Ambassador, a symbolic and strategic recognition of his dedication to the cause.
“This is not just a signing—it is a declaration,” Ambassador Idara Michael stated. “Today, Ikeja becomes a beacon of civic responsibility. This partnership will awaken a generation to the truth that rights and duties are inseparable, and that leadership is measured by service. We are building a legacy that will outlive us all.”
The groundbreaking partnership will power civic responsibility and leadership programs aligned with the 7 Duties of Leaders, the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and the JCI Action Framework—embedding purpose-driven development directly into the fabric of the Ikeja community.
In attendance also was Olayinka Adenekan, Southwest Director of Human Duties, and Adenuga Ayotunde, Ikeja LG Supervisor for Youth & Sports, alongside all distinguished Southwest Area Team Members present, whose efforts were instrumental in bringing this vision to life.
For JCI Nigeria, this is more than a milestone—it is a movement. A powerful step forward in the mission to foster world peace and prosperity, and a resounding affirmation that when leadership is intentional, communities transform.
Ambassador Idara Michael’s leadership—steering this historic declaration, securing a four-year institutional partnership, and championing the cause of human duties—cements her legacy as a pioneer, a bridge-builder, and a leader who transforms vision into lasting institutional impact. Ikeja has set the pace. And the nation is watching.
