‘HEYS AGENDA’ AT 100 DAYS: HON. ODUNMBAKU GIVES ACCOUNT TO OJODU RESIDENTS AT STAKEHOLDERS FORUM

The HEYS Agenda enjoyed great applause and praise yesterday when its performance was reeled out by the Executive Chairman of Ojodu LCDA, Hon. David Olusegun Odunmbaku. The HEYS Agenda with focus on 4 key areas – Health, Education, Youth & Women Development, and Social Infrastructure – represents the thrust of the Odunmbaku-led administration.
Addressing the leaderrship and good people of the local council at the event, the Chairman noted that the Stakeholders Forum signalled the commencement of the Budget Cycle for 2022. ‘We need to align ourselves with the people to be sure that their needs are catered for. In addition, we want to obtain inputs, contributions, and suggestions from stakeholders on the 2022 Budget process to promote citizen participation in the budget preparation’, he explained.
Yomi Oyelami of Trek Africa Newspaper report that, On the HEYS Agenda, the ‘Able God’ Chairman reeled out a long list of achievements in just 100 days in office.

In health, the renovation of Apata Primary Health Center; the provision of solar energy at our Primary Health Centers to reduce running cost and increase service delivery to the communities; and COVID-19 vaccination at designated PHCs within the LCDA. Others are provision of Medical Checkups as part of 100day celebration and soliciting for more Doctors, Nurses, and other medical officers (from the state government) to facilitate 24 hours services at the PHCs.
In education, the council organized the Year 2021 Preliminary Spelling Bee Competition among our pupils coordinated by Mrs. Abimbola Odunmbaku, wife of the council chairman and provision of welfare packages for the Head Teachers in primary schools. Further, there was distribution of school bags and learning aids/materials to students, distribution of 150 GCE Forms to students which the administration intends to double the numbers by next year, giving out JAMB Forms to students before the end of the year, and renovation of schools in the LCDA in conjunction with SUBEB.

In youth and women development, there was training and retraining of youth on ICT, vocational skill, entrepreneurship, etc. to adapt to 21st Century trends; empowerment of the youth by creating jobs, seminars, vocational entrepreneurial skills, and working tools; and assistance of out-of-secondary-school students to re-write examination and vocational training to become useful and productive in the society. For women, there was empowerment to be self-reliant through financial aids and moral support and financial aid to motherless babies homes.
In social infrastructure, the Chairman unveiled and commissioned the new Ojodu LCDA Legislative Chamber at the Council Secretariat; rehabilitated Modupe to Secretariat Road; and provision of Welfare packages and Patrol Vans to Police Divisions – Ogba, Ojodu, and Pen Cinema. Others are Drainage Repairs and Road Construction at Muyibi Street; Repair of Drainage and Road Rehabilitation at Shonola Street; and the Repair of Drainage and Road Rehabilitation at Oyatogun Street. Further, there is provision of Parasols and other aids to market men and women; provision of cash gifts and palliatives to the elderly; provision of cash gifts to the widows; and provision of cash gifts to the less privileged.
Promising more successes, the Chairman assured: ‘This is just the tip of the iceberg, as we are persistent in ensuring that our dear LCDA remains a formidable point of reference in terms of grassroots growth and development.’ He also praised all taxpayers, saying ‘I want to appreciate all the taxpayers so far for your commitments which have birthed the following projects and activities within a few months of the inception of our administration.’
Present at the event were the wife of the Chairman, Mrs. Abimbola Odunmbaku; the Vice Chairman, Hon. Bunmi Oluyadi; House Leader, Hon. Opeyemi Apatira. Others were Oba of Aguda land, Oba Agbaosi;
Chief Aboaba, Chief Ganiyu Haruna, Baale of Agidingbi; Chief Nojeem Aro, Baale of Ojodu; Chief Akinyemi Baale of Akiode; Chief Saheed Olusesi, Baale of Omole; and Chief Aboaba.
Also present were leaders of market men and women; CDA/CDC, National Council for Women Societies (NCWS); National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW); staff and management of the Ojodu Local Council senior citizens. Others are the head teachers of some primary schools, health professionals, school children, and many others were in attendance.
