Hamzat, Salu-Hundeyin Emerge as Early Favourites in Lagos APC GAC Consultations Ahead of 2027

Strong political signals are beginning to shape the conversation around the 2027 governorship race in Lagos State, as emerging reports suggest that two top government officials are currently being considered within influential party circles.
Sources familiar with ongoing discussions indicate that Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, the incumbent Deputy Governor from Epe Division, is gaining significant attention as a potential governorship candidate under the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Alongside him, Barrister Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin, the Secretary to the Lagos State Government representing Badagry Division, is also being mentioned prominently as a likely choice for the deputy governorship position.
Insiders point to quiet but strategic consultations within the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC), where considerations such as zoning balance, political alignment, and party continuity are said to be guiding the conversation.
While no official position has been announced by the party, the increasing mention of both names in political discussions suggests that momentum is gradually building ahead of what is expected to be a keenly contested 2027 race.
