A political group under the aegis of Alliance for Peace and Development (APD), in the Niger Delta has thrown its weight behind Senator Heineken Lokpobiri to continue his good efforts to stabilize the oil section in the country and urged President Bola Tinubu, to ignore calls for the removal of the Minister for State Petroleum Resources. Describing those calling for his removal as selfish and wicked.

In a statement released in Yenagoa, after an enlarged meeting of the group and signed by its leader Chief Freedom Ebi Gagede, condemned in strong terms the scatting unconstructive criticism against the Minister of State Petroleum Resources, NNPCL, Senator Lokpobiri by some faction of the Ijaw Youth Congress (IYC), and some people who took it upon themselves to embarking on media campaign of blackmail and calumny for the removal of Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, as Minister of State of Petroleum Resources, NNPCL.

Gagede, said, it is wrong to blame Senator Lokpobiri for the oil crisis in the country. Adding that, he has all what it takes and capability to run his office.

The group maintained that since assumption of office of Senator Lokpobiri, and in view of the crisis in the oil sector, he is trying and have exceptionally managed the oil crisis and has achieved results to sustain the country economy within his one and half years in office.

The group said, we are worried and keep on asking people what is the offence of Senator Lokpobiri, as Minister of State Petroleum Resources? They have no tangible reasons to offer, and that a group of people will now jump and lash that, he should be remove, as a campaign against the Minister.

The statements also noted that, the economy of the country is bad, and what we need is collective suggestions to get out of this place. And warned them to desist from the act forthwith for calling for the removal of Senator Lokpobiri as Minister of State Petroleum Resource.

Chief Gagede said, the entire members of our group, Alliance for Peace and Development pledged their support with Senator Heinken Lokpobiri to carry on the good work he is doing on the oil sector in the country and for his capability to offer selfless and purposeful services to the country.

According to him, some of those calling for the removal of Senator Lokpobiri are inexperienced and does not know the inner workings or nitty gritty in the oil sector, but those of us that have worked there understands the problems, he said.

Therefore, the group called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to ignore calls for the removal of Senator Lokpobiri as Minister of State of Petroleum Resources.
