A Chinese automaker, GAC Motor, has lived up to its promise of supporting the creative industry in Nigeria as it has donated two luxury cars to two winners at the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Award in Lagos.

The Chairman of CIG Motors, distributors of GAC Motor cars in Nigeria, Chief Diana Chan, who made the presentation congratulated the winners and assured them of an exceptional riding experience with their new cars.

A statement by the auto company quoted her as saying, “I am a Nigerian at heart and I have followed the growth of Nollywood over the years and I must say that I am very impressed with the progress of the industry.

“At GAC Motors, we take it as a personal cause to support people like you who are creative and exceptional and we will continue to do so in every way I can.”

It gave the lucky car winners as legendary actor, Chika Okpala, popularly known as Chief Zebrudaya of the New Masquerade fame and Somkele Idhalama, an actress. They both won the Industry Merit Award and Trailblazer Award, respectively. While Okpala won the new luxury SUV – the GS4, Idhalama got a classic sedan, the GA3.

In 2016, GAC Motor also gave out two cars to winners at the AMVCA. The two cars – GS5 Trumpchi – were presented to Stephanie Linus for winning the Best Overall Movie in Africa Award and Kemi Akindoju, who won the trailblazer award.

In December, GAC Motor launched the GS4 car in Lagos at an event, which was graced by the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed; the Chinese Consul General, Chao Xiaoliang; Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, and the General Manager of GAC Motors, Yu Jun, among other dignitaries.

The GS4 model was the first GAC-branded vehicle to be assembled in Nigeria since the auto firm ventured into the Nigerian market in 2013, the statement added.
