GAC Motors boosts Access Bank Lagos City Marathon with N100m

It was another huge boost for the Access Bank Lagos City Marathon on Thursday after the new leading automobile company in Nigeria, GAC Motors, announced sponsorship deal worth N100m in kind for the competition.

The MD/CEO of Nilayo Sports Management Ltd, the consultant company for the race, Bukola Olopade, said GAC’s commitments to developing sports in the country brought about their investment in athletics and most importantly the marathon.

“The agitations by the media that we have not strategically placed Nigerian athletes in terms of the reward has now been solved by GAC Motors,” Olopade said. “Out of the seven cars they will be giving to the marathon, two will be going to Nigerians winners in our newly introduced 10km Road Race.

“The newly introduced 10km Race; tagged The Family Race will see the overall winners in male and female categories go home with choice GA3S car each donated by GAC Motors.” Also, speaking on the new developments, the Marketing Manager for GAC Motors, Kayode Adejumo, said that the company was passionate about developing talents.

He added that they were committed to sports because of what sports stands for which coincidentally represented the four core values of GAC, which are safety, quality, innovation and pleasure. The GAC official, who is the son of former president of the Nigeria Olympic Committee, Raheem Adejumo, said: “We believe sport gives us this and that’s why we are happy to be part of this event

“We know it represents development, we also know marathon is all about endurance which is part of the values of GAC Motors.” On his part, the General Manager for the Marathon, Yusuf Ali, said all hands were already on deck to make the 2018 race a huge success including the newly introduced 10km Road Race.
