While Nigerians are still mourning and angry over the murder of 200L student, Deborah Samuel which happened in Sokoto state, another similar incident has happened right within the ‘civilized’ Lekki Phase 1 neighborhood of Lagos state. This sad incident happened when a sound engineer, simply called David was beaten and lynched by a mob of Northern commercial bike riders.

Trek Africa Newspaper gathered that a disagreement ensued over N100 balance between David and a bikeman. Before long, the Northern motorcyclists in their number quickly gathered to pounce on David, beating him to pulp, and then set his weak body ablaze. It was also said that the two friends of David who tried to intervene were also bloodied and are battling for their lives in an hospital.

In his exclusive chat with Trek Africa Newspaper, the PRO of Lagos State Police Command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin issued stern warnings that the Nigeria Police frowns at jungle justice and mob action. On the Lekki Phase 1 matter, he said that four arrests have been made and they will be swiftly taken through the judicial system. In his words, ‘Four people have been arrested and investigation is ongoing. We are asking Lagosians to desist from jungle justice and mob action. It is a big offence. We are prosecuting the people to the fullest to serve as deterrent to others’, SP Hundeyin revealed to Trek Africa Newspaper.
