Nigerians were assured of regular empowerment and vocational training programmes across the country towards the reduction of poverty in the country. This assurance was made by the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu OON in her message at the opening ceremony of a 3-Day Skills Acquisition Training and Empowerment Programme. This program was facilitated by her office at the Lagos City Centre, Sura, Lagos Island, Lagos, Trek Africa Newspaper reports.

The First Lady who was represented by Hon. Wahab Alawiye-King said the training was necessary to equip the people with basic knowledge on how to be self-dependent and free from relying on people to survive. The 200 beneficiaries selected from the Lagos Central Senatorial District will receive Training in Cosmetology, Photography and Confectionery for the next three days. She urged the beneficiaties to take full advantage of the training to improve on their lives.

According to her, occupying the office of the First Lady is like the opening of a bigger door from that of the Senate in the rendering of selfless service to the people. Sen. She described selfless and humanitarian services as what she likes to do best, promising to do more for the people across the nation irrespective of religion and tribe.

Trek Africa Newspaper can report that the First Lady was also full of appreciation to Nigerians for the support to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and her husband, the party’s Presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR during the last general elections.

On his part, the Chairman of Lagos Island East Council Development Area, Alade Folawiyo believe that the Federal Government has done the right thing with the fuel subsidy issue. He assured Nigerians that the price of fuel per litre will soon come down when all plans by government to cushion the effect are activated. He encouraged the people that there could be no gains without pains noting the agony from the removal of fuel subsidy will not last for long.

Hon. Folawiyo also thanked the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu for organising the tenth in the series of the program in the local government since he became the chairman of the council over a year ago.
