In the ongoing Edo State Governorship Election, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has responded to concerns regarding alleged discrepancies in polling unit result sheets. According to INEC, complaints of incorrect figures have been raised at two polling units out of the 4,519 used during Saturday’s election.

INEC, in an official statement, assured the public that a thorough investigation will be conducted into the matter, with any proven irregularities addressed swiftly. This move comes as part of INEC’s commitment to ensuring a transparent and credible election process.

So far, INEC has uploaded over 90% of the result sheets from polling units to its Result Viewing Portal (IReV), with 4,259 out of 4,519 polling units’ results already available. The commission continues to maintain that the election process remains fair, and the APC, along with other stakeholders, has urged all parties to await the final results as INEC addresses the isolated complaints.

The investigation will shed light on whether these complaints are genuine errors or isolated incidents, as the people of Edo State anticipate the final outcome of the election.
