DIG Jitoboh assures end to attack on Police formations in South-South

DEPUTY Inspector General of Police in charge of South-south, and leader of Operation Restore Peace, Mr. Moses Jitoboh, has assured that his office remained steadfast in its plan to reposition the force’s structure in the South South-south region to speedily bring to an end the current security challenges being experienced in the area. Jitoboh made this known on Monday shortly after a strategic stakeholders meeting at the police command headquarters in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

The police boss also visited Ikot Akpan village in Essien Udim local government area were hoodlums allegedly camped prior to the recent attacks on police formations, and dislodgement of officers which led to the brutal killing of about 21 police officers. Jitoboh also had an extensive interactive session with officers and men stationed in the community. He used the occasion to encourage and boost the morale of police personnel on duty. He expressed his resolve to rejig the security architecture in the state by rolling out new operational strategies which, according to him, would be purposeful and intelligence-driven, and targeted at identifying hoodlums across the region as well as bringing them and their collaborators to justice. The DIG equally promised to do all within his powers to uplift the welfare and working condition of police personnel, together with rewarding and encouraging excellent and extraordinary feats by members of the Force. He therefore commended the stakeholders and members of the public for their understanding, cooperation and support for the police in the face of the current security challenges. He reminded the people that they are key actors in the task of policing their communities, and charged them to continue active collaboration with the force in exposing societal ills including ills within the force. He assured that the police force under his leadership in the South-south region would continue to partner with relevant stakeholders in the task of making the state safer and better.
