Deputy Majority Leader, Hon. Kasunmu Commissions Legislative Building In Ikeja • As LGA Chairman, Mojeed Alabi Presents Legacy Projects, Mega Empowerment To Constituents

Lagos State House of Assembly’s Deputy Majority Leader, representing Ikeja Constituency 2, Hon. (Prince) Adedamola Richard Kasunmu (ARK) yesterday, 24th May 2025, participated in the commissioning of major legacy projects in Ikeja Local Government. The lawmaker, who was a Special Guest at the occasion, officially commissioned an ultra modern edifice tagged “LEGISLATIVE BUILDING” in the Ikeja LGA axis of his constituency.
The magnificent structure, located within the Ikeja LGA Secretariat, is among the legacy projects built by the Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Engr. Mojeed Alabi Balogun, as part of his administration’s efforts to strengthen local governance infrastructure in his domain. The building is expected to serve as a hub for legislative and administrative activities within the local government.

During the ceremony, Hon. Kasunmu unveiled a commemorative plaque bearing his name, a symbolic gesture recognizing his contributions to legislative excellence and development in the constituency.
Speaking at the event, Hon. Kasunmu commended the chairman for the landmark projects, describing it as “a bold step towards institutional capacity building and enhanced legislative engagement at the grassroots.” He also applauded Engr Mojeed for the giant strides of his administration in Ikeja in the last eight years.

In the grand ceremony held yesterday, Ikeja Local Government witnessed the commissioning of several key infrastructural projects spearheaded by the administration of the Executive Chairman, Engr. Mojeed Alabi Balogun. The event drew a host of political leaders, government functionaries, traditional rulers, and stakeholders from across Lagos State.
Among other notable attendees were Rt. Hon. James Abiodun Faleke; Hon. Tayo Ayinde, Chief of Staff to the Lagos State Governor, representing Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu; the Commissioner for Local Government and Community Affairs, Mr. Balaji Roberts; Lagos State House of Assembly member, Hon. Nureni Akinsanya (OSMAK); Lagos Mainland LG Chairman, Mrs. Omolola Essien; Elder Yemi Nelson, widower of late APC Icon Yeye Kemi Nelson; APC Ikeja LGA Chairman and G-57 Chairman, Maiyegun Dally Adeokun; Chief Funso Ologunde, and several traditional rulers including the Olu of Aguda, Awise of Onigbongbo, Regent of Ikeja other royal fathers, Apex Leaders, party Excos and other VIPs.
One of the day’s highlights was the commissioning of the newly completed Legacy Building, a gigantic administrative structure designed to serve as a nerve center for local governance. It was officially commissioned by Hon. Tayo Ayinde on behalf of Governor Sanwo-Olu.
In a deeply emotional moment, a state-of-the-art healthcare facility named in honor of late APC stalwart Chief (Mrs.) Kemi Nelson was commissioned by her daughter, Mrs. Adetoun Popoola, the General Manager of LASPARK, who was joined by her father, Elder Nelson. Mrs. Popoola lauded Chairman Balogun for the honor bestowed upon her mother, describing it as “a lasting legacy that speaks to her lifelong service to the people.”
Hon. Faleke also commended Engr. Balogun for the pace and quality of his administration’s developmental strides, noting that the projects reflect the aspirations of the APC for grassroots empowerment and good governance.
In addition to the infrastructure unveilings, the event also featured a significant empowerment initiative, where 50 mini-buses were distributed to beneficiaries from across Ikeja.
Furthermore, over 500 residents received various forms of cash empowerment, underscoring the administration’s commitment to improving livelihoods.
The event was well-coordinated under the leadership of Hon. Yomi Mayungbe, Vice Chairman and Chairman of the Planning Committee. Also instrumental in its success were the Leader of the Legislative House, Hon. Ayotunde Adenuga, and other key council officials.
In attendance as well were the APC Chairmanship candidate for Ikeja, in the forthcoming LGA election, Comrade Akeem Olamilekan Dauda, and his running mate, Hon. Abisola Omisore, among others.
Engr. Balogun’s accomplishments in the last few years were hailed as a bold statement of transformative leadership and an affirmation of the vibrancy of local governance under the APC.
