The Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Samuel E. Erale, psc, mnips, has joined other service commanders in accompanying Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to Odidi Riverine Community for an on-the-spot assessment of a devastating oil spill.
The inspection, which took place on October 6, 2026, focused on the impact of the oil spill, which reportedly polluted the river and caused extensive damage to aquatic life and farmlands in the community.
The police said the Commissioner of Police and other security and service commanders accompanied the Governor during the visit as authorities assessed the extent of the environmental damage and its impact on residents and their livelihoods.
The development was disclosed in a statement by the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe.
The on-the-spot inspection underscores the need for coordinated action by relevant authorities to address the environmental and socio-economic consequences of the oil spill on the affected riverine community.
