CP MOHAMMED ALI REELS OUT AMAZING SUCCESSES ACHIEVED IN ONE MONTH; ASKS FOR MORE SUPPORT FROM DELTA RESIDENTS

In line with his determination to keep the people of Delta state abreast of activities of the Police Command under his watch, the Commissioner of Police in Delta State, CP Mohammed Ari Ali fcia, psc yesterday addressed a press briefing. The period under review for the briefing is 13th February to date.

‘My primary assignment is to provide adequate security for the good people of Delta State and to ensure Delta state is safe for all. Although, the challenges are obvious and enormous, they are nevertheless surmountable’, the Delta Police boss started.

The Police Commissioner who recently had a stakeholders meeting at the Police Officers Mess in Okwe, Delta state with Fulani herdsmen and native farmers noted that he emphasized the need for a peaceful coexistence between herders and farmers and set up modalities to see that the herders/farmers crisis come to a halt in Delta State. The meeting held on 25th February 2021 also had the Governor of Delta State, Sen. Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa represented by the DG on Security to the Delta State Government, Hon. David Tonwea.

On other community consultations, CP Ali shared: ‘On the premise of involving the Communities in policing, I have concluded my tour of police formations, during which period I met with some traditional Rulers, Opinion Leaders and Stakeholders to foster the existing relationship between members of the public and the police. During the tour, I made it known to all stakeholders, that partnership with the police is key, as the police will not be able to do it alone. I also solicited for timely and credible information as it will go a long way in helping the police to proactively stop and prevent crime.’

‘In compliance with the State Government covid-19 imposed curfew in the state from 2200 hrs – 0400 hrs to stop the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, raid/restriction of movement are been carried out by the Command on daily basis and suspects arrested are been charged to mobile court set by the state government.’

On the successes recorded by the Command within the period under review, the Police Boss reeled out ‘the arrest of one Prosper Godspower, male, age 23years with a bag containing one (1) brownie pistol with breech no 11977 and iron chain at Okpanam road; patrol team from ‘B’ Division Ughelli led by ASP Akpovwovwo Prest while on stop and search duty along Uduere Ughelli road intercepted one (1) Honda vehicle with Reg. No. JT-859 EKY driven by one Sunday Digbor ‘m’ age 44yrs of no 15 Enroba street, Enerhen Delta State and upon interrogation and search of the vehicle, two (2) military caps, one (1) military T-shirt was recovered; and a team of delta hawk on patrol by midwifery junction along Okpanam road Asaba intercepted two suspected stolen vehicles, with covered plate number one (1) red Toyota corolla with registration number ABJ49AA and a black Mercedes Formatic Jeep without registration number, with six (6) occupants viz: Chigozie Arinze ‘m’ age 23yrs, Kingsley Ndukuba ‘m’ 32yrs, Nwokoye chidera Emmanuel ‘m’ 21yrs, Chinedu Akwali m 29yrs all of Anambra state, and Chidera Anichukwu ‘m’ 21yrs of Ebonyi state, on the spot search, six (6) pieces of army camouflage uniform, one (1) army beret and a face cap, one (1) bayounet and one (1) porch were recovered from the suspects, case under investigation to ensure the arrest of other gang members at large for prosecution.’

Other accomplishments of the Police Command are: ‘The raid of cultist hideout in Agbor and Sapele Area Commands by SACU (State Anti cult Unit) operatives leading to arrest of a total of twenty (20) suspects were arrested, two (2) locally made cut to size gun, two (2) Dane gun, one (1) dagger, and a laptop were recovered, suspects confessed to be members of Aro bagger and Ayes confraternity; a team of Eagle net Special Squad led by Inspector John Andersikuteb while on Aberdeen system of patrol along Ughelli road, intercepted two (2) male occupants viz: Stanley Agbuke ‘m’ age 32yrs and Esiaje Michael ‘m’ age 41years on an unregistered Qlink motorcycle. Upon a thorough search, one hundred and fifty (150) live cartridges, one Delta State vigilante group identity card, two (2) small itel phones and an alligator pepper were recovered from the suspects; one (1) Elvis Efosa Osayenda ‘m’ age 32yrs of Benin City, was arrested along Lagos – Asaba express Road with a white Lexus RX 350 with Police Spy plate number with Reg. No. Police PF2502-SPY. The suspect was arrested for indiscriminate use of siren and unauthorized use of police spy plate number; and a team of Policemen accosted one (1) white Lexus RX 300 with presidency plate No. With Reg. No. NYCN – 063 along Mid-Wifrey Junction, Off Okpanam Road Asaba and the occupant of the vehicle on noticing being followed by the Police abandoned the vehicle and escaped from being arrested.’

All cases are under investigation in accordance with the dictates of the laws and respect to the fundamental human right of the citizens.

CP Mohammed Ari Ali concluded by thanking the people of Delta state and solicited ‘their continuous understanding, support and cooperation with the State Government and Police Authorities in the fight against crime and criminality.’
