What a wonderful celebration yesterday when one of Nigeria’s finest Police officers, CP Adegoke Mustapha Fayoade reveled his three-in-one celebration which comprised promotion to the rank of Commissioner of Police, transfer to another assignment, and his birthday.
Generally described as an empathetic and reliable officer, CP Fayoade has proved time and again that professional policing can be matched with human face. He engages effectively with the immediate community wherever he worked and this has led to growth for the Policing system within those domains, Oki Samson of Trek Africa Newspaper observed.
In his previous post as DC of State CID, Panti, Lagos, CP Fayoade was able to lead the infrastructural facelift of existing structures, including a conference/event hall within the Panti premises.

Interestingly, it was this same event hall that was used for his three-in-one ceremony. The newly-decorated CP Fayoade is heading to Abuja as the CP ARMAMENT, Force Headquarters to do greater feats in maintaining peace and order under the Police structure led by the IGP Usman Alkali Baba and in the service of fatherland.
He is a well-respected senior officer having won many laurels including awards conferred by Trek Africa Newspaper, National Association of Online Security News Publishers (NAOSNP) among others.
Leading the list of eminent dignitaries who joined the newly promoted CP is the Board Member of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) and CEO of Executive Group, Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan.

Full of gratitude to the Almighty God and people around, the erstwhile DCP in charge of State CID, Panti, CP Adegoke Fayoade expressed: ‘I am very happy and excited about the event today. God Almighty made it possible for me to witness this. I am taking on the rank of CP, that is not a mean feat. I feel fulfilled, excited and happy with the fact that my men and officers are celebrating with me. I will remember Lagos as a city that brought the best out of me as a police officer. Policing in Lagos is very challenging and as an officer, you can work anywhere in Nigeria and outside Nigeria.’
‘For me, it is call of duty for me to put in more effort so that events like this will always come up. Promotion comes with higher responsibility. We are expected to exhibit higher standards. What I will do is to continue to put up my best into the efforts of the IGP to bring the Force higher’, he told Trek Africa Newspaper.
Fayoade who is noted for bringing facelift and beauty to every Police formation he has worked advised young officers who look up to him. ‘My message to the young officers is to put people at the centrepoint of their policing. They must do everything possible to ensure that they are very objective, sincere, empathetic, and handle issues in such a way that both suspect and complainer will feel happy with what they have done.
The Chairman of the occasion, Dr. Ayo Ogunsan eulogized: ‘I always doff my hat for police officers. One day I was walking the streets of Atlanta with my family on a vacation and I interacted with a beautiful senior police officer. I asked him ‘what stands you out’ and he said ‘I respect lives and liberty. It is very sensitive and inclusive. I have high level of tolerance and feeling for human beings. I have high ethical standards and the milk of kindness that is expected of a police officer.’

‘I said that when I get back to Nigeria, I will start identifying officers who have similar characteristics with the officer. In my voyage, I can say that our newly promoted Commissioner of Police, CP Adegoke Mustapha Fayoade is an exact replica of the exceptional police officer I met in Atlanta. He has milk of kindness flowing in his system, he has human face to policing, he listens, he is gentle. When bosses are leaving their place of work, I look at the faces of their subordinates and I get signals whether the boss is bad or good. But all the faces I am seeing today, I can see excitement, joy, and gladness. Mark my words, we will celebrate this man again because God loves humble men and He promotes them’, he told Trek Africa Newspaper.
‘When you see men having milk of kindness with human face and high ethical standards, watch out, there is a woman who is doing so well. I have a lover of God here, Mrs. Adekemi Fayoade. I believe so much in prophecy and I know that this is not the end of the road but beginning of great things to happen. I love CP Fayoade. I will continue to love him. I will be his friend when he becomes AIG, when he becomes DIG.’

The Chairman of Executive Trainers Ltd., Dr. Ogunsan then used the opportunity to advised younger officers, ‘Be nice to the suspect. Be nice to the complainer. I am not a police officer. I was involved in a situation about 10 years ago in Zone 2 Command in which someone lied against us and framed us up. He collected a loan and didn’t pay back on time, it’s just a simple case of default. I was the middleman in the case. I am not saying all suspects are right, don’t get me wrong. Today, I am the personal friend of AIG Zone 2. Sometimes, when I get there, I will see the police officer hiding. I brought him out one day and reminded him the situation.’
Reminiscing on the good times he shared together with the man he regarded as ‘an OK guy’, the DCP in charge of Finance and Administration, Lagos Police Command, DCP Bassey Ewah noted: ‘Working with him is an understatement. He is my coursemate. We started training the same day. We have known each other for 30 years. He is a fine gentleman of an officer. It would have been very unfair if I didn’t show up. He is a good guy, reliableand nice person. He is an OK guy.

‘In terms of community engagement, that is a true reflection of who he is. I have witnessed others do this and people don’t show up. So if Fayoade is able to pull this within 2 weeks, it tells you that he is on the ground. He has a listening ear, he has ability to empathize, and offer solutions to problems. I am celebrating him for reaching the enviable rank of Commissioner of Police which is a dream of officers. I wish him more wins’, Ewa said.
The Chairman of Yaba LCDA, Hon. Dr. Kayode Adejare Omiyale said: ‘CP Fayoade Adegoke has been a very good gentleman. Since my inception as Chairman, he is the 4th DCP that I will work with. Among all of them, he is highly encouraging, a go-getter, and the period he has stayed here even though hisassignment is not regular policing but is into investigation, we have had relatively peaceful environment in Yaba LCDA and Lagos Mainland LGA in general.’

‘He motivates all his officers, he will organize gatherings like this to mingle with the community. In this period he has stayed as DCP of State CID, I sincerely thank God for his life. I am wishing him all the best in the new cadre. It is a triple celebration, he is celebrating birthday, promotion, and transfer’, Trek Africa Newspaper gathered.
Another police officer, ACP Rasaq Oseni recounted about CP Fayoade, ‘He does not make noise. He does his things in a quiet manner and with precision. As he is being elevated today, he is also dragging me along with him by the grace of God.’

The wife of the celebrant, Mrs. Adekemi Fayoade revealed to Trek Africa Newspaper the unique character trait of her husband: ‘It is humility that works for him. He relates with his young officers easily. It makes his work even smoother. All eyes are on him, I pray that he will be able to do more. God has always been his help, he will continue to do well in Jesus name.’
On her part, the daughter, Adetutu Fayoade noted: ‘My dad is very good, hardworking, and caring. I wish him continuous progress, this is just the beginning, this will bring him more. I can advise my friends to be police officers because you can be the change instead of waiting for the change.’
