COVID-19: CP Odumosu Monitors Compliance and Enforcement of Federal Government Directives on Restriction of Movement in Lagos State

…Charged Police Officers to Enforce the Order with Compassion.
The Commissioner of Police Lagos State Police Command, CP Hakeem Odumosu psc has on Tuesday 31st March, 2020 gone round boundaries between Lagos and Ogun State and major streets in the State to monitor compliance with the directives issued by the Federal Government of Nigeria on 29th March, 2020, for cessation of all movements in Lagos with effect from Monday 30th March, 2020 for initial period of 14 days. The order requires all citizens of Lagos State to stay at home and postpone travels to or from other states. All businesses and offices within the State were directed to be fully closed within the period.
2. The order does not apply to hospitals and all related medical establishments as well as organizations in health care related manufacturing and distribution. Commercial establishments such as: (a) food processing, distribution and retail companies; (b) petroleum distribution and retail entities; (c) power generation, transmission and distribution companies; and (d) private security companies are also exempted. Although these establishments are exempted, access will be restricted and monitored. Workers in telecommunication companies, broadcasters, print and electronic media staff who can prove they are unable to work from home are also exempted. Banks are allowed to render skeletal services.
3. Personnel deployed for the enforcement exercise were fully briefed by the Commissioner of Police Lagos State, CP Hakeem Odumosu psc. The CP charged them to be professional. He urged them to carry out their assignment with compassion and respect the rights of citizens.
4. The Commissioner of Police is satisfied with the level of compliance so far and use this medium to appreciate the good people of Lagos State for their patriotism in obeying the safety regulations put in place by Government. Together we will stop the spread of COVID-19.
