The commissioners at the Lagos State Local Government Service Commission (LGSC) have thrown their weight behind the ongoing APC Membership Revalidation and Registration Exercise. The exercise which has been peaceful and hitch-free in the state is aimed at getting more people, especially youths, irrespective of tribe, gender, and religion to join the fold of the governing party, All Progressives Congress (APC).
As the administrators in charge of the governments closest to the grassroots, the Commissioners made the clarion call to residents of the state to come on board the ‘Broom Revolution’ which is sweeping across communities and the entire country. They reiterated the development that the state has enjoyed under the successive progressive governments in Lagos since 1999. They also charged party leaders and members in the 57 local councils across the 5 IBILE divisions of Lagos
to encourage people in their respective streets and wards to enlist in the party while not forgetting to revalidate their own membership.
Hon. Hakeem Adisa Bamgbola
In an exclusive chat with Trek Africa Newspaper Team, member of the Local Government Service Commission (LGSC),
Hon. Hakeem Adisa Bamgbola shared: ‘the issue of party is about crisis management. We have different people with different agenda but same ideology of progressive change.’
‘So we are trying to put our party right. And that’s the reason for the ongoing membership exercise. By March/April, we will hold the Congress that will determine the people that will steer the party affairs for the next 4 years. By 2022, politics will go full steam. As soon as we are done with the Congress, we will stabilize fully.
Ahead of presidency 2023, Hon. Bamgbola said: ‘Zoning has always been there. In 2023, we believe Southwest deserve it. Babatunde Raji Fashola said it doesn’t need to be written down. As humans we have gentleman agreement that the position should be zoned to a particular region. Rotimi Amaechi said so. Chief Olusegun Osoba said so. I hope it will be fulfilled, I hope they will not renege on it because that is what killed People’s Democratic Party (PDP). I believe our leaders in All Progressives Congress are noble and will keep the agreement.’
Hon. Abiodun Taofeek Adaranijo
In the same vein, Hon. Abiodun Taofeek Adaranijo, Commissioner IV at the LGSC said about the party, ‘In every organization, there are times of crisis and there are times of peace. Crisis will come and go. Therefore, our party is opening its doors for registration of new members. We want our citizens to join us so that we will have a strong, responsible party membership that will make us win elections’.
Hon. Ahmed Ayinde Seriki
Addressing youths directly, the LGSC Commissioner III, Mr. Ahmed Ayinde Seriki said: ‘You have to be a part of this party. Most of the LGA chairmen you see today are youths. In the State House of Assembly, I can say we have about 60% of youths to show our belief in youth.’
