Leading automobile manufacturer, CIG Motors Group has strengthened Lagos State’s security architecture with a major private-sector intervention of Ten (10) operational vehicles donated to the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF). The intervention is aimed at supporting rapid response and the mobility of security personnel to reach emerging threats without delay.

The vehicles, valued at over N300 million, were formally handed over by Chairman of CIG Motors Group, Chief Diana Chen, to the Executive Secretary/CEO of LSSTF, Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan, at the company’s international headquarters in Victoria Island, Lagos. The fleet comprises four Wuling N111 vehicles, three Wuling XC250 vehicles and three JMC Vigus pickup trucks, which will support security mobility, logistics, field deployment and emergency response operations across the state.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ogunsan commended Chief Chen and CIG Motors for their sustained commitment to Lagos State, describing the donation as a demonstration of confidence in the state and its security agenda. He said the intervention was particularly significant because LSSTF is a donor-funded interventionist agency whose ability to support security agencies depends largely on contributions from individuals, businesses and corporate organisations. “Madam, we will not forget this in a long time. Generations will not forget it. Posterity will not forget it. Your name will be written in gold for taking this bold step,” Ogunsan said.

He assured the donor that the vehicles would be properly maintained and deployed for maximum operational impact, stressing that the intervention was not merely a donation but an investment in the safety and prosperity of Lagos.

Ogunsan also pledged to promote CIG Motors as a worthy private-sector partner, noting that he would henceforth serve as the company’s “sales representative” in recognition of its contribution to the state’s security architecture.

Chief Chen, whose company is the exclusive distributor of GAC Motor, Wuling and JMC vehicles in Nigeria, described security as fundamental to economic prosperity, highlighting that security is a foundation for investment, enterprise and sustainable development. “Security is the first infrastructure of prosperity. Protecting Lagos means protecting lives, livelihoods, enterprise and the economic future of our nation,” she said.

The latest intervention builds on CIG Motors’ long-standing tradition of security and humanitarian support for security and public-sector institutions, reinforcing its position as a strategic private-sector partner in Lagos’ development. In September 2020, the Group donated five fully equipped Dongfeng security operational trucks to the Lagos State Security Trust Fund. The vehicles were allocated to the Rapid Response Squad, Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Corps and Lagos State Taskforce.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Chief Diana Chen Foundation partnered with the Lagos State Government by donating 50,000 face masks, an ambulance and ₦20 million to support frontline security and healthcare interventions. In August 2022, CIG Motors donated a brand-new vehicle to the Federal Road Safety Corps, Lagos Sector Command, as part of its corporate social responsibility programme. The Group has also delivered 150 vehicles to the Dangote Group for the Nigeria Police Force and established partnerships with several state governments to strengthen security operations across Nigeria. CIG Motors’ partnership with the Lagos State Government extends beyond security. Through investments in local automobile assembly and its partnership with the state on LAGRIDE, the Group has supported modern transportation, employment creation, driver empowerment and more efficient urban mobility.
