Buhari appoints new IGP, Edgar reports to Abuja

President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed a new Inspector General of Police, AIG Adamu Lafiya, to replace the outgoing, Ibrahim Idris.
The appointment apparently indicated that the President yielding to complaints against Idris and need for him not to extend his tenure which expires tomorrow, Tuesday.
Lafiya, before his appointment, was a directing officer at National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPPS), JOS.
Though there no official statement from the Presidency, but Lafiya’s colleagues have started congratulating him on his appointment.
A top police source disclosed to TREK Africa that efforts by Idris to persuade the President for extension of service fell on his deaf ears as he instructed that there was no was room for such under his administration.
However, Lagos former Commissioner of police, Imohimi Edgar, resumed at his new post, promising to bring to bear the experience he had garnered in Lagos and elsewhere.
Edgar, in a circular released by the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim IDris, was expected to resume as the Commissioner of police in charge of explosive ordinance unit at the force headquarter Abuja today).
