Binance Executive Tigran Gambaryan Released, Leaves Nigeria After Eight Months In Detention
By Trek Africa Newspaper

Binance executive Tigran Gambaryan has left Nigeria after spending eight months in detention.
The Bola Tinubu-led administration withdrew charges against Gambaryan on health grounds and following diplomatic pressure.
Trek Africa Newspaper reports that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had initially charged Gambaryan.
However, during a court session on Wednesday, the EFCC prosecutor explained that the government had reviewed the case, considering Gambaryan’s role as an employee of Binance Holdings Limited, the first defendant in the matter, and the international diplomatic implications.
As a result, the state sought to discontinue the charges against Gambaryan.
Following the court decision, Gambaryan was released from Kuje prison on Wednesday night and left Nigeria to reunite with his family in the United States.
In a statement on behalf of the family, Gambaryan’s wife, Yuki, expressed relief at his release: “The past eight months have been a nightmare. I wish it hadn’t taken so long or that his health hadn’t declined, but now we can focus on healing as a family.”
She also thanked the U.S. government and supporters for their efforts during the ordeal, adding that the family is now focused on Tigran’s recovery.
