A new reality show will soon set your TV screen with pure entertainment, education, and inspiration, Tagged: Big Break Moment Africa Reality show, it is open to talented students of tertiary institutions in Nigeria. Though in its third edition, this is the maiden edition that will be beamed to the global audience.

Speaking with Trek Africa Newspaper during the unveiling of the twenty shortlisted dream house mates at Oriental hotel, the Founder, Big Break Moment Africa, Tayo Folorunsho introduced: ‘The Big Break Moment Africa is an edutainment competition that is centered round identifying students that have talent in Music Dance, and Acting. So what we have done so far, is to run audition in selected states in Nigeria, looking at Abuja, Lagos, Enugu and Portharcourt. So it’s been a wonderful journey and we have been able to discover young guys that have all it takes to challenge the status quo. So they will be camped in an undisclosed big mansion which is called the dream house. Watch out for these guys because they have all it takes. This program is annually, every nine months and if you look at the University calendar, every summer it is going to be back. It’s Edutainment like never before.’

‘The prize for this year is 30million worth. The winner goes home with a car Dill 2021, tear leather, and we already got a support from Skywise group, BossLady Law Chambers and wonderful support from the CEO AIG consulting. It has been a wonderful journey with these good people that believe in betterment of Nigeria.’

‘What I intend to achieve basically, is to see that young students are given the opportunity in various institution in Nigeria. I was once an undergraduate and I discover myself early so I discovered that there is a lot of things that is missing in the institution. What the students want is the platform that will stimulate their creativity and passion. Right now, the challenge is, they are faced with too much, they graduated with their talent and end up working as a cleaner, as a bar attendant. Let’s see how we can fill in this open space so that students with talents are given the platform. Also, it is one thing to have a talent, it is another thing for it to earn you a living. So right now, we are also creating platform to make this student entrepreneurs, through this will be solving the problem of unemployment in Nigeria’

‘Enough is enough, we keep blaming the government, that government is this, government is that. For me, I feel we have made the government too powerful. It is our own responsibility to make sure we earn a living for ourselves. The real education is the development of the mind, once your mind is developed nobody will tell you, you will come out from that siege.’

The Director of the reality show, JJC Skillz said: The reason why I wanted to support this project is because it is about students. It’s about talented people – Singers, Rappers, Actors, and Dancers. That is my field, and it is an opportunity to train them and give them opportunity to grow in the field that they love.’

‘I believe the people that will be in the house are going to richly gain a lot from been in the house. But more than that, all the people watching it will actually gain some knowledge from the people they are watching because we are going to have a lot of people going there to coach them, teach them things about the industry and about Business.’

‘This is a platform that is designed for artistes and talented people from Universities to blow. But again it’s a platform that will teach a lot of people that are watching it about what the industry they are about going into. So, yes it a double-edged sword’, the Director said about the bright chances of the participants in the reality show.

The Executive Producer of the Big Break Moment Africa and Head of BossLady Law Chambers, Amb. Barr. Orbby Vanessa Agwuncha popularly called Boss Lady also spoke about the upcoming show. ‘It is something that is going to happen forever and it’s basically to harness, showcase, and to give an edge or wings to people that are somehow hiding in the society. We have a lot of talent. If you can understand in the whole world today, Nigerian music are played more than any other country. You go to the United Kingdom, Nigerian artiste, you go to America, Nigerian artiste.
So I feel we need to do more to bring out the best in all of us, not just the students.’

‘It is not something that most of us sit at home and say the government needs to do this, the government needs to that. This government is this, this is that. I hope you all know that we are also government. Our supports start from the home, whatever you do at home if you are given the leadership, if you are given the baton you will do the same thing. They said when somebody is rich you will see the person’s true character.
Then character comes to play. I am not a Governor, I am not a Commissioner, I am not a Minister, but I believe that God gave me an opportunity to be Nigerian, to be a lady, to be on this earth for a reason, and I have to fulfill it. And that fulfillment comes from surrendering myself totally to give love, to give health, to be a support system to anybody, not just family, not just friends, not just business associates, but to anybody I feel that needs that help and needs that assistance. Our universities today go through a lot, yes education is very good. But remember we all have a hidden talent, remember our parent will say, I want you to study law, I want you to be a doctor, I want this.

But inside you, you have this passion to be a songstress, a fashion designer, you have this passion to sing, you have this passion to dance. Whatever your passion is, there is a reason you are having that passion. It is God’s gift, even when you study medicine you can as well grow your passion. What you like to do.’, she told Trek Africa Newspaper.

On the reason for sponsoring the show, Boss lady noted: ‘The best I know about life and best thing that can get Gods attention, is when you invest in the people. That is the number one investment that I know. It’s a matter of time that you share God’s heart by loving your neighbors, putting a smile on people’s face. And I am here to say that, we have a lot of people like me that have the resources like me don’t know the right plug. I am to challenge us, like don’t depend on the government, don’t wait on the government to do all you can do. You only need support system and a team of people that give help to you. This is Tayo’s idea, but he grabbed people like us, as support system. So when this idea was brought to me, when he was talking to me, I was looking to him. He was talking and talking, what I was thinking, or checking was, how is this going to help our students? And has he was telling me about the show. I was like the students are at home now. If they have skills, if they have other things they are good at, they will be busy with it.

So that was what struck me and I am like let’s do it. He did not believe it when I told him. You know when somebody bring a business idea to you, and say I want to sell tomatoes if you give me 1Million naira, I will be able to get tomatoes and do like that. When the person calls the amount, you say in your mind you will say 1Million naira I will use to pay rent next year, and do this. And we listen and supported him.’

Chief Mrs. Laura Can den vyver with Denrele Edun

On her personality, Boss lady said: ‘To be honest with you, I am a very private person. When I say private, I meant all my “shakara” (i.e. bravado) like Denrele said ends in room, my office I am not really out there. But when this idea was brought to me, I did not go home to say let me think about it, I am a very spontaneous person. If I want to do something, I will do it spontaneous. I don’t thinks that if have only one thing next month. But please don’t do like me, I am just talking because I have the spirit that guides me. But I am just telling you is my personality. A lot of you, I am the highest risk taker that ever lives, when I say highest risk taker? I take risk that if you hear, you take me to a corner and beats me very well as an adult.’

‘But he did not believe me when I told him I am in, I went home and chat him up, I now said send me the account details and let start. I don’t know what that means. Because he did not really send the account details immediately. So, I think he was probably thinking there is a mistake somewhere or something. This is somebody I sent message to today. I think I have to call him if he read my message. He said, madam we wanted to do the documentations, we wanted to do the agreement, we wanted to do all those things and now send everything with the agreement. I told him, send your account details first. We shall do all the documentation later. Now everybody will say, I am a lawyer, I advised people before going into business transactions to have documents. Just like I told you, I have that thing that tells me go ahead. So we started, and was getting better and better, it was expanding and I was looking at it. This thing is bringing me out too much, I kept begging like I don’t want this, I don’t want this. Blessing and Denrele will come and say Boss lady we have to do this interview. I said no, let me just stay in the background and don’t want to be out there. He kept on saying it, and one day I stand up and say listen, this is what people we love to do, we love to support tomorrow. There are some people that have that resources, but they don’t know what to do with it. They are too busy, the money is there, fund is there, but they are too busy. Some people live in the air, they are flying from one country to other, but if you come out and they see, that somebody like me can do this. I am not a senator, I am not an honorable. But it is one of the thing that excites me. It is the reason why I live, and for the fact that I am still breathing no matter the criticism, no matter the failure, I have failures in life, a lot. Probably my failures are even more than my successes. No matter how many times I fall, I will stand up. I have done a lot of investment that did not yield anything. It has not stopped me from doing what God says my daughter I brought you here for a reason.’

‘With the story of my life, there is a lot of blessings in giving. Some people will tell you I don’t have, no matter, it is ok, that your one kobo, if you take a cent out of it to make somebody smile, you will see how opening doors. Forget about the calculations, forget about what they told you, it is a risk. Life is all about risk’, she advised.

An event Planner and a guest at the unveiling, Mr. Leo noted: ‘I have known the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for a long while, like this thing really started from the University of Abuja when I was the director of socials of the student Union Government, and I think he was like 100 level and I was in the final year. He learned so much about me trying to bring about social infrastructure things into the school, and that is where the dream gave birth. It was pregnant, but today now, it has given birth. I am just overwhelmed and so happy, that something like this is happening because I know the root and I knows the idea and everything.’

Mr. Leo who is also an artiste promoter and brand feasibility manager talked about the immense benefits for youths. ‘One thing is, everybody has been blaming the government, even despite the government of Nigeria has failed us. That is why I always thanked the private sector coming on board putting this in place. And I am even begging more to come on board because much is expected to happen. You know a lot of things are damaging you can see what is happening there is ASUU strike, there is nothing that is really happening.’

‘This is a very great platform and a lot of youth will buy into it. When this one is done, a lot of youth will come up because they know that there is seriousness and there is hope. That big hope for the youths, especially the students is actualized.

Anywhere you go all over the world, Nigerians are talented, you can even see it, if you watch your television, like me I have a lot of producer that are friends, you will a lot of artistes in the studio writing music, producing music and even writing for those big one’s you are hearing now. I see a lot of them, a lot of Nigerians are talented all over.’

On his part, veteran Nollywood actor, Amb. Dr. ‘This is a big moment. It’s a good moment that everybody all the younger ones long for. You see, I had the master class with all the contestants yesterday. And I told them Acting, Entertainment, is the new crude coming to Nigeria. It will not destroy its soil, secondly it will not pollute it. So pursue your talent, don’t let anybody deceive you. And when I have this master class with them, I discovered that a lot of them are so talented.’

‘This is a reality show that I am proud to associate myself with. Because It is not entertainment but edutainment where students have come to learn. The younger ones should think twice before embarking. We are number two in the whole entertainment industry, I am talking about Nollywood. We are talking just about quantity but quality.’

Mr. Testimony of Skywise Group also talked about the role of Skywise Group in the reality show. ‘We believe so much in students and all of the future leaders of tomorrow. And Skywise believes that this student needs to enjoy to an extent already car ownership. They need to enjoy what it means to ride your own car and be able to enjoy that comfortability in a beautiful SUV. So, on that note, Skywise is sponsoring this event to make sure that they enjoy car ownership and to get to enjoy what it means to own their own cars and that is why we are here to give our own quota by supporting this event.’

‘We love what we are doing and by virtue of honour we want to continue to do more. I will not say we will stop here yet because we still have further discussions on this sponsorship. We will let you know as we regards that in the future.’

In his uncommon style and charisma, the official host of the Big Break Africa Season 3 and ace entertainer, Denrele Edun told Trek Africa Newspaper: ‘When I was normal I was broke but when craze enter my body nah him I begin to dey make money. So I want you all to you all to pray to God to locate your madness and turn it a money making machine. As I always preach, you cannot create a certain fundamental change without a certain level of madness, and this madness is non-conformity.’

‘When I say you are mad it is an acronyms for “Making a Difference” and that is what I envisage and see about life. I am the official host of the Big Break Africa season three but this is officially the first season that will put out nationwide. Because the first two seasons were just from the University of Abuja only. But now we decided to go all out, and ASUU cannot hold us down. So first thing first, we have 20 shortlisted contestants, actually, let me even drop a surprise, they are not the only one going into the house, but they don’t know that just yet. Now these 20 were specially selected when we had a nationwide move from Abuja to Porthacourt to Enugu to Lagos. I sat all through the auditions which start by 8:00am and I will leave there by 10:00pm. I know the feelings of being on the other side, I decided myself to attend to each contestant personally. It was a multi-tasking and draining effort but I took it on with all the strength in the world. And also, I have learnt a lot this is energy, and synergy of give and take and it was crazy enough for me. I cannot wait to see them in the house.’

‘We have a beautiful house that they specifically designed, an Architectural masterpiece designed for the contestants, Brand new car 2021 from Skywise Autos Abuja and so many amazing partners on board. I am so honored, I can’t wait for my co-host, Blessing CEO, JJC Skillz.’

‘The first thing that bought me over was the fact that it was about youth empowerment. And I love anything that has to do with taking the young people to the next levels. I am not blowing trumpet here, but I am one of the few people who is always ready to propel people to the next level. The moment I heard it has to do with young people who are stuck at home, ASUU is on strike, and they are trying to navigate their way through life and still trying to understand what the next thing to do.
Everyone is going to be on the show are talented, resourceful, innovative, amazing and captivating. Because during my hustling days, no body added a big break to me. I started my hustling before the advent of the internet. I started professional showbiz in 1994. And now fast forward it’s been a trajectory of successes recorded. So many amazing people will come my way and say Denrele you are there for me thank you and that is how it should be. When our youth leadera met in Addis Ababa, they meet in 2019, the whole idea was to understand the youth unemployment and try to diffuse it and tackle it. They said the Africa youths decade is from 2019 to 2020. But my people, we are in 2022, nothing has been done, a lot of students are still roaming around the street, we need to engage their minds.’

‘When we started out, it was difficult because I had doors shut to my face. But I have said to myself I will never shut a door against any young person, rather I will be a window to get to that platform. This is also to empower young people, rather than have young people stay at home because ASUU is on strike and they are wondering what next to do. And you know I experienced an ASUU strike for a whole year, and I remember Linda Ikeji and I were in the same department in school. “We just dey house, we dey look, wetin dey happen”. Now we are giving the opportunity for young people to come out, empower themselves, get enlightened in the process and also gained some exposure and make some name for themselves.’

A recently evicted housemate of the BB Naija season 7 said: ‘It is going to be exciting and intriguing. I know we have many reality shows in Nigeria so expect nothing but the best. I want to tell them to be yourself and know that everybody cannot win, even if you do not win, even if you don’t win on the show, you will certainly win in life.’

Chief Mrs. Laura Van den vyver (Yeye Otunba Atunluse of Ayede Ekiti) who is also a sponsor of the Big Break Africa reality show said: ‘I hope that they are themselves, they have fun and learn about new things and come out to be best in life. And I want them to go out and becomes stars and Ambassadors and all they wanted to be. So I wish them all the best and all the great things they will expect from themselves. The business sector is actually helping them, they are actually helping themselves, it is really supporting, it’s really helpful, and they really supported them in a good way.’

On her business line, Mrs. Laura said: ‘We are bringing a new technology into Nigeria. It is going to help our ecological phase, because it is going to be free of pollution. So it going to help us.’

The CEO of Guaranty music, K-Proxy noted: ‘I have the opportunity to see the whole place, we have gone to see the house, and it is really very good. This is something very good in the future. It is a reality show. I am urging other investors to come in.’

‘Guaranty music is all about giving life to entertainment, we are trying to see how we can come into partnership with people trying to make sure that entertainment is cool. So that is one of the reason we go on a tour around the house, and everything we saw, we were like this is good to go. We are giving about 100 recording opportunities to support youths talent. And this one is another one. I just think the youth need to put their heads down to look out for opportunities because there are so many people now trying to change the narratives of the Nigerian youth’, K-Proxy said.

The Head of PR and marketing of Big Break Moment, Bianca said that the reality show is an edutainment talent hunt competition that gives Nigeria undergraduates the platform to showcase their talent in music, and dance. ‘We had physical audition across 10 states in Nigeria, we started from Abuja, from Abuja to Enugu to Port Harcourt and then to Lagos. And then we also had the online audition. Though 20 who are here today are just coming from physical audition. The online people are still going to come in much later. They will be in the dream house for one month. During this time, we will bring in industry professionals in dance, music and acting, because those that were selected here are those that can dance, sing and acts. So they are going to have professionals that are going to come and train them and fine-tune their talent.’

On other details of the show, Bianca said: ‘Denrele Edun is the host of the show, and we have JJC Skillz is the show content director. The grand price for this show is 20Million naira worth of prize inclusive of a car. This show is here, and here to stay. The Youths have so many talents in them that need to be harnessed. And it will be more beneficial to the country, Africa and the world at large.’

‘I personally feel that the entertainment industry is filling the gap, between what the government is supposed to provide for the citizens. Because let’s think about it, people graduated from school, study Law and can’t even get a job in law chamber. So, the entertainment industry is actually filling that up to let people know that is not about what you study in school. You have the talent that you can show the whole world and make money from it. I feel the entertainment industry is doing an amazing job, and that is what actually bring about this idea’, she told Trek Africa Newspaper.
