Bayelsa NUJ Re-Elects Tife, Other Excos

Members of the Federated Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Bayelsa Council have re-elected the State correspondent of Reuters News Agency, Mr.Tife Owolabi to pilot the affairs of the chapel in the next three years.
Other newly inaugurated chapel exco Include,Mr. Emem Idio of the Vanguard Newspaper as Secretary, Mrs. Elizabeth Ayaka-Joseph emerged as Assistant Secretary.
Declaring the result, the three man Electoral Committee led by Mr. Femi Folaranmi of the Sun Newspaper, said 17 out of the 18 accredited members participated in the election.
In his remarks during the inauguration which took place at the Correspondent’s Chapel office, Toolda road, Ekeki Yenagoa, the NUJ Chairman, Comrade Tonye Yemoleigha , congratulated members for their maturity and peaceful conduct, describing the Federated Correspondents Chapel as the elite group within the Union.
In his acceptance speech, Mr.Tife Owolabi appreciated the confidence reposed in him and members of his executive to serve the union, promising to run an open-door policy to move the union forward. While stressing that the welfare of members will be uppermost in his administration.
In a goodwill message, Chairman of the CLO in Bayelsa, Mr. Bekinwariye David-West commended for conducting the election in a crisis-free atmosphere, urging Journalists to live to their responsibility as the Fourth Estate of the Realm.
Highlights of the event was swearing in and the administering of oath of office to the newly elected leadership of the Federated Correspondents of the Bayelsa State Council of the NUJ.
