The Commandant of Nigerian Armed Forces Resettlement Centre, AVM IG Lubo has told soldiers of the Nigerian Army who have just retired to consider themselves as consultants who can be called upon for security purposes. Hence, they should not see themselves as useless because they are out of active service. This is because they have gathered enough experience from their service to fatherland as well as their participation in operations outside the country in the past 35 years.

AVM IG Lubo made this remark at the Valedictory Buffet Luncheon which held in honour of soldiers who discharged from the Nigerian Army in 2021 last weekend. ‘Retirement is a blessing. Everyone serving prays that they will leave the Service in good health just as we are seeing all of you today. We are happy to see you.’

Represented by Maj. Gen. SI Ibilo at the event, he continued: ‘The importance of this event is to show that our Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Faruk Yahaya appreciates you in playing your role for the past 35 years and coming out today with your head high. This also goes to show our appreciation to the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Pres. Muhammadu Buhari who has the love of the Armed Forces at heart. The condition and welfare of the Armed Forces have greatly improved. We are talking about the military family – whether we are in or outside of service.’

‘You have automatically transited to become consultants in security matters. You took part in many operations – Yugoslavia, Liberia, Sierraleone etc. It is your responsibility to share your idea with us on internal security and insurgency in our land’, National Association of Online Security News Publishers, NAOSNP can report.

The Head of the resettlement centre, AVM Lubo affirmed to the retirees that the centre is open to them, ‘Your personal security is very important, we want to see you doing well. The door of our facilities is open to you, you belong to us’.

Top officers in the Nigerian Army present at the valedictory event include Maj. Gen. AS Ibikunle, Maj. Gen. NO Eneku, Brig. Gen. IN Abdullahi, Maj. Gen. UK Mukhtar, Brig. Gen. Ahmadu Ali, among others. The Lagos Commissioner of Police, CP Sylvester Abiodun Alabi was also physically present to celebrate with the deserving soldiers of the Army. The Oba of Onigbongbo, HRH Oba Olusegun Ajasa also attended the event among other dignitaries.
