APC CONGRESS: Odigie-Oyegun stops inauguration of Tinubu, Amaechi backed State Excos

Tinubu and Oyegun

THE John Odigie-Oyegun led leadership of the All Progressives Congress, APC, is set to inaugurate the state executives that emerged from the recent congresses of the party across the nation today.

However, in one of most poignant blows to the authority of the national leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the Tunde Balogun led executive of the party masterminded by the Tinubu tendency in the state will not be inaugurated, we learned yesterday.

In another setback for another national figure of the party, Rotimi Amaechi, the Rivers State chapter of the party will also not be inaugurated. The Taraba and Bayelsa executives of the party will also not be inaugurated, the national party spokesman, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi told the press yesterday.

We, however, learned that the Cyril Ogodo faction that emerged from the disputed congresses in Delta State is to be inaugurated. The inauguration of the Lagos State executive was put on hold upon “unresolved constitutional issues” flowing from the conduct of the congresses in 57 local government areas of the state.

Abdullahi said that the inauguration of the Lagos State chapter would be put on hold pending the resolution of the constitutional question as to the legitimacy of the 57 local council development areas or the 20 local councils as recognized by the constitution. Balogun was elected as APC state chairman at a congress supervised by Senator Uche Ekwunife, an emissary of the national secretariat of the party.

The congress was attended by Governor Akiwunmi Ambode and all but one elected federal and state legislators serving on the platform of the party. However, in an unprecedented challenge to the authority of Tinubu, a rival executive emerged at a state congress held at Airport Hotel on the same day where Fouad Oki, the immediate past state vice chairman (central) emerged as chairman. The Ojukaye Flag-Amachree led executive in Rivers State aligned to Amaechi

We learned, yesterday, would also not be inaugurated based upon legal issues flowing from the injunction against his election by the Senator Magnus Abe-led tendency in the party. The inauguration of the executives that emerged from Bayelsa and Taraba States we learned was based on alleged irregularities during the congresses.
