Trek Africa: What is happening today?
Hon. Funmi: Today is our budget retreat day. The title of the 2019 budget is “Budget of Consolidation”.

Trek Africa: What are the new projects you are bringing on board this year?

Hon. Funmi: Last year, we planned to build roads. Of the 6 we planned, we completed 4. We also have another 3-storey building office complex ongoing which we have to carry over into this year’s budget. We also have two roads for each of the seven wards making 14 roads in total to be constructed.

Trek Africa: What are your plans for health and education?

Hon. Funmi: As usual, we have plans for these areas. Last year, we conducted medical tests for diabetes and some other health issues. This year, we will be bringing in experts from overseas to help treat some health conditions. In education, I have a special program tagged: ‘My Precious Student’, we will supply desks and benches, books, uniforms, sandals and school bags to students for free in order to make them dress smart and boast their morale to learning.

Trek Africa: How have you been able to engage the youth for social-economic development?

Hon. Funmi: Before now, we had cases of youths fomenting trouble in the area but thanks be to God since last year, we are able to start free skill acquisition programs for males and females to make them employable or to start out on their own. Not that we can solve the problem of unemployment totally but at least, within our capacity about 360 youths have been trained and they can meet their daily needs as a result of our skill acquisition programs.

Trek Africa: What are you doing concerning the environmental issue in the area?

Hon. Funmi: We are trying our best. Now, we have our own compactor truck that can patrol the environment about 3 to 5 times a week, especially Thursdays and weekends. Thus, we don’t have issue concerning the environment.

Trek Africa: Your LCDA is within the Lagos Central Senatorial District, what can you say concerning Sen. Oluremi Tinubu’s Empowerment Initiatives in your district?

Hon. Funmi: Sen. Oluremi Tinubu is one out of a million. She stands out among all the senators that have represented this district thus far. She has helped the youths, aged, and the women. She has also opened a center which she named after Prince Tajudeen Olusi. She has served this district excellently and make her service lifestyle a good example for others to emulate. She is performing wonderfully well and we’re very proud to have her as our mother.

Trek Africa: What is your message to the electorate as the elections draw near?
Hon. Funmi: I will advise them to come out en masse to vote for candidates of their choice. APC is on ground, we are working seriously to ensure that all our candidates emerge as winners.
