Akwa Ibom Police Warns Against Hijacking of Nationwide Protest, Demands Details from Organizers

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has warned against the hijacking of the planned nationwide protest scheduled for August 1-10, 2024, tagged “End Bad Governance.”
Commissioner of Police, CP Waheed Ayilara, has called on organizers to submit details of their activities, including proposed protest routes, expected duration, leaders’ contact information, and measures to prevent hijacking by criminal elements.
The Command requires this information to emplace adequate security and ensure a peaceful protest.
CP Ayilara urged both organizers and participants to cooperate with the Police to prevent a breakdown of law and order.
The Command assured residents that it will spare no resources in protecting them during and after the protest, maintaining law and order throughout the state.
Participants are advised to maintain the sanctity of public gathering and lawful assembly, avoiding acts capable of leading to a breakdown of law and order.
