AIG Jimoh Presents Scorecard, Hands Over to CP Tijani Fatai as Lagos new Commissioner of Police

The outgoing Commissioner of Police in Lagos State Command, AIG Olohundare Moshood Jimoh, today Thursday 26th March 2026 presented a comprehensive scorecard of his stewardship, highlighting major security milestones as he formally handed over leadership of the Lagos State Police Command to his successor, CP Tijani Fatai, National Association of Online Security News Publishers, NAOSNP can report.

Speaking at the handover ceremony at the Command Headquarters in Ikeja, Jimoh who was recently elevated to the rank of Assistant Inspector-General (AIG) and deployed to Zone 2, described his tenure as one defined by strategic policing, strengthened public safety, and operational efficiency across Lagos State.

He cited the deployment of a 24-hour CCTV surveillance system and the successful policing of high-profile events, including the June 12 Democracy Day celebrations and international engagements, all executed without security breaches. He also noted the peaceful conduct of the LGAs/LCDAs elections under his watch.

On crime management, Jimoh disclosed that significant arrests had been made in key cases, with prosecutions ongoing, while investigations into the killing of six residents remained active. He attributed the Command’s success, including zero recorded kidnapping incidents during his tenure, to the dedication of officers and effective collaboration across units.

The AIG further acknowledged the Lagos State Government’s support, particularly the enhancement of officers’ welfare, and praised initiatives such as the Coastline Patrol Force, Anti-Crime Patrol, and Community Protection Squads.

Announcing the creation of seven new police divisions in Banana Island, Park Real Estate, Oshodi, Eleko, Airport, National Theatre, and Lekki, AIG Jimoh said the IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu and the Police Service Commission gave the approval and that “Divisional Police officers have been posted and are fully operational” in the new divisions. He assured that the new divisions would deepen security coverage.

He urged the officers in the Command to give full, untainted cooperation to his successor.

The new CP Fatai Tijani pledged to build on existing gains and sustain a safer and more secure Lagos.

The 42nd Lagos Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Fatai hails from Agege LGA of Lagos State. He enlisted in the Nigeria Police Force as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) on 10 June 1994. Until his recent posting, he served as: Commissioner of Police, Eastern Port, Port Harcourt; Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Department of Operations, Maritime FHQ Annex Lagos and Lagos State Command Headquarters, Ikeja; Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Department of Finance & Administration, Zone 2 Command, Onikan Lagos, Area Commander Ilaro, Ogun State, Maiduguri Metro, Borno State, Area C, Surulere, Lagos State, Squadron Commander 5 PMF, Benin, Edo State and 17PMF Akure; Officer-in-Charge, Homicide Section, SCID, Lagos; Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Ogere, Ogun State, Ijanikin and Alakara, Lagos State. He is a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police.
