The newly appointed Acting Chief of Army Staff, Major General Olufemi Olatubosun Oluyede, met on Thursday with Chief of Defence Staff Christopher Gwabin Musa and National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu. This meeting took place less than 24 hours after President Bola Tinubu announced Oluyede’s appointment, which will last until the return of substantive COAS Lt. General Taoreed Lagbaja, who is currently receiving treatment abroad.

The discussions were held in Abuja at the NSA’s office, but specific details of the meeting have not yet been disclosed.

President Tinubu appointed Oluyede to the acting position on October 30, 2024. Prior to this role, Oluyede served as the 56th Commander of the Infantry Corps of the Nigerian Army based in Jaji, Kaduna. At 56, he is a coursemate of Lt. General Lagbaja from the 39th Regular Course. Oluyede was commissioned as a second lieutenant in 1992, with an effective date of 1987, and attained the rank of Major-General in September 2020.
