Lagos State Fire & Rescue Service Holds 2026 Staff Engagement, Honours Retired Officers for Meritorious Service

 

 

The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service (LSFRS) has successfully held its 2026 Annual Staff Engagement and Retirement Ceremony, celebrating dedication, professionalism, and years of selfless service to the State.

The event took place at the Adeyemi Bero Auditorium, Alausa, Ikeja, and brought together serving officers, retirees, and key stakeholders across the Lagos State Civil Service.

Delivering the keynote address, the Honourable Commissioner for Special Duties and Intergovernmental Relations, Mr. Gbenga Oyerinde, stated that the annual staff engagement has become essential for reviewing past performance and re-strategizing for improved service delivery in the new year.

He further appreciated the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, for his continuous support to the Fire and Rescue Service, particularly through the provision of modern firefighting equipment, construction of new fire stations, and installation of industrial boreholes at strategic locations to effectively combat fire incidents across the State. He encouraged officers to sustain their commitment to duty while also paying close attention to their health and well-being.

Speaking at the event, the Chairman, Lagos State Civil Service Commission, Mrs. Boladele Dapo-Thomas, commended officers of the Service for their unwavering commitment to duty. She described firefighters as gallant public servants who consistently put their lives on the line to save lives, protect property and environment. In moments of fire emergencies, when others are running out, you are courageously running in. Your dedication and bravery are worthy of commendation,” she said.

In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary ministry of special duties and intergovernmental relations Mr Tunde Ogundeko, mni praised the Service for its impressive rapid response to emergencies and urged officers to always conduct themselves professionally, noting that their public image reflects the integrity of the Service and the State.

The Controller-General of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service delivered the welcome address and took time to brief officers on the provisions of the newly enacted LSFRS Law, emphasizing its importance in strengthening operations and service delivery.

Highlights of the event included Capacity-building lectures for officers Decoration of ranks for newly promoted personnel, formal retirement recognition for Squad 13 officers and others who served meritoriously, with the presentation of cheques by the Agency, presentation of awards and plaques to officers in various categories for exceptional service delivery and release of the year activity report which details will follow in subsequent bulletin.

The ceremony was well attended by dignitaries, senior government officials, and stakeholders, underscoring the importance of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service in safeguarding lives, property and environment across the State.
