Olufunke Rekiya Hassan as the new Chairman of Onigbongbo Local Council Development Area (LCDA). The appointment of Barr. Barr. Olufunke Rekiya Hassan, a native of Lagos, brings an impressive background in law and extensive experience within the local government to her new role. A dedicated public servant, she is known for her commitment to community empowerment and her passion for fostering positive change across Onigbongbo LCDA.
Barr. Hassan holds a Bachelor of Laws (B.L.) from the Nigerian Law School, Lagos Campus, and a Master of Laws (L.L.M.) degree from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. Her legal and administrative expertise have shaped her career in public service, where she has contributed significantly in various roles within the council.
Before assuming the position of Chairman, Barr. Hassan served as the Vice Chairman of Onigbongbo LCDA, a role she held since 2020. Her previous positions within the council include serving as the Supervisor for the Department of Agriculture and Social Services, as well as the Supervisor for the Department of Education. Her leadership abilities extend beyond her immediate community; she has held roles such as Assistant Legal Advisor for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Onigbongbo LCDA and South West Social Secretary for the National Young Women in Politics Forum (NYWPF).
In addition to her work within government, Barr. Hassan is an active member of the Rotary community, where she serves as the Chairman for Youth Activities and holds a charter membership. Her involvement with Rotary highlights her dedication to youth development and service.
Governor Sanwo-Olu praised Barr. Hassan’s commitment to public service and expressed confidence in her ability to bring about impactful changes within the Onigbongbo LCDA.
