The Lagos State Deputy Governor and All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat has rallied residents and traditional leaders to vote massively for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and all APC candidates in the upcoming 2027 general elections.

Speaking at a strategic stakeholders’ meeting in Ikeja with over 7,000 Baales and Chiefs, Dr. Hamzat emphasized that a resounding victory for the ruling party is vital to ensuring Lagos State secures its rightful share of federal resources and development projects.

The Deputy Governor highlighted several key milestones of the Tinubu administration that have directly impacted citizens, including the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) and a ₦657 billion financial support transfer targeted at vulnerable citizens.

Dr. Hamzat argued that maintaining alignment between the state and the federal government prevents Lagos from being overlooked, recalling a past incident where the state received no central government support after losing 200 transit buses—valued at over ₦74 million each—during the EndSARS protests.

“Lagos stands at a vantage point,” the IT specialist noted, urging the community to leverage its 7 million registered voters to deliver a decisive turnout that would strengthen the state’s influence within the federation.

He also reassured the audience that his administration would aggressively confront the state’s security challenges, which have been compounded by a massive daily influx of people.

Responding to concerns raised by the Baales and Chiefs regarding stagnation in promotions and poor remuneration despite their role in maintaining grassroots peace, Dr. Hamzat promised that cultural matters and local leadership welfare would receive top priority under his leadership.

Also, speaking at the event, the Lagos State APC Chairman, Hon. Cornelius Ojelabi declared that the era of impunity and lack of accountability among elected officials is over.

He noted that the gathering marks a renewed commitment by the party to forge a permanent partnership with traditional institutions.

The high-profile meeting drew a massive turnout from the Ikeja division, alongside key APC stalwarts, including the Director General of the Campaign, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, and his deputy, Rasak Ajala.
